I'm deciding whether to switch from windows 7 to windows 8 or stay with my current OS? Also I would like to know if all the current programs that works on Windows 7 will work on windows 8? and last but not least does steam works fine on windows 8?

Everything that works on windows 7 works on windows 8. I personally use windows 8 on both my gaming laptop and my main PC and the only differences i noticed that deemed beneficial was the faster overall speed, more detailed task manager in windows 8, and the fact that i don't have to use a 3rd party anti virus. Windows 8 is a great OS, IMO it's more superior to windows 7 by a wide margin, when it comes to easy usability/Multi tasking.

If you won't be spending major $$$, definitely switch to windows 8, I got two new laptops with windows 7 and used the serials to get windows 8 upgrade for 16$ each smile.gif

Not too long ago I managed to get a copy someone was selling locally. It was Windows 8 Pro retail in the sealed package for $60. I figured for the asking price I'd give it a shot.

To be honest, I'm quite happy with the upgrade. I did a full reinstall and all my Windows 7 programs still work just fine in Windows 8. Boot up is noticeably faster and there are a few nice touches to the file explorer and interface that I like. The Start Menu certainly takes some getting used to, but I'm using it at the moment since I want to give it a fair chance and learn how to use it instead if just instantly dismissing it. TBH, the way the Start menu can be organized is very nice...much less clutter and appeals to my need for organization. But hey, I might just end up going with Start8 anyway. biggrin.gif
