If AMD were to release VI in Dec and crushes gk110, does NV have a gk110 to compete up their sleave, or does the slow yeild on these really mean that they have capped their GPUs until Maxwell?

They could always go with a "Titan Ultra" that's closer to the Tesla K20X than the current Titan, but I'm pretty sure that the GK110 (regardless of how many SMX clusters are disabled) is as good as it gets for NVIDIA before Maxwell debuts.

If VI comes out on 20nm it will totally annihilate GK110 but its hard to see a 28nm VI chip doing as well. AMD has done some very impressive optimizing with GCN so far so its not completely impossible but improbable considering their unwillingness to build a large die chip...

thank you very much for that - i just deleted a rely along the same line because i doubt it would be well recieved by some.

the first available tesla in the retail market wasn't available until november of last year. prior to that nvidia had to deal with supplying their OEM partners along with over 18,688 units to the oak ridge laboratory.

i don't think it was so bad that it just took them a few months to make the titan available to market and now the 708 a few more months later.

what, they were to ignore the purchase orders sitting on their desk to please someone whom is looking to spend no more than $500 a unit??????
