Dual Booting Windows 7 and 8. Partitioning problem. GPT? MBR? Please Help!

I am booting in legacy mode, because that is the only way I can get the Windows 7 USB stick to boot. If I boot in UEFI mode, the system refuses to boot from CD/DVD and refuses to boot from my USB stick. It simply loads Windows 8.

It's a laptop. Just 1 disk. It has a main partition and a recovery partition. There are also several small partitions (less than 1GB) and I am assuming they are UEFI related, and not on the actual disk?

I am trying to dual boot windows 7 and 8. Windows 8 is already installed and the system uses a UEFI mobo (my first one). All the partitions are GPT style, and windows 7 setup reads them as being GPT, and tells me it can't install on them. I want to create a new NTFS partition on the disk to accomidate 7, but I also want to leave 8 in tact. When I a booted in windows 8, it shows the file system is NTFS. There is no mention of GPT anything.

Can anyone help me out here please? I am not familiar with GPT partitioning.
