Hardware Monitor 2 different CPU temps?

I just got the h100i water cooler, and I noticed that Hardware Monitor shows two different CPU temps

As you can see, under the motherboard, it says the temp is 30C. But under the actual CPU it says 12C. Which one is real/more accurate.

the one that says CPU is right, the one that says package i believe refers to the socket temperature which is 'safe' up to 72 degrees as to the CPU temp i believe is safe up to 61 degrees (no more!) for more accurate results use the AMD OverDrive utility it tells you the correct 'cpu' temperatures

AMD Overdrive gave me similar temps to the 'package' value. Is there any chance the temperature where it says CPU could be the socket temp?

doubtful, think about it, your ambient temp is around 15-20 degrees, how could the CPU itself be cooler then the ambient temp? and how could the socket run hotter then the cpu? tongue.gif

The socket should run hotter than the cpu, because the socket is not cooled while the cpu is.
