Chooofoojoo's 4P Build: "4P McFoldy" (AMD 6300 series!) - Page 18

If you spend this amount of money on a build....wouldn't it be time to maybe invest a bit of money in an Aquaero 5? You can hook up a flowmeter, multiple tempsensors, even reservoir fillsensor and have it use alarms and even shut down the entire system when things go wrong.

I like your ghetto build though biggrin.gif

It is so typical how almost all 4P systems are ghetto builds. Who needs a case when you can just put it onto your desk? biggrin.gif

Good to see you back up and running again. thumb.gif

That's probably because they're designed to run as nodes of an even greater ghetto machine with fancy graphics on the frame very often biggrin.gif

Well if you're running them at home you can still pack them in a dustfree chassis that looks alright, maybe even make it silent.

Yes, you certainly can Hukkel biggrin.gif

I did notice however that even though you run a rad outside of the case, it doesn't really collect more dust than inside. Unless you apply dust filters of course, but then you have to clean those or airflow gets restricted.

Thread Starter
I have a couple of pretty high CFM fans that blow directly across the board. Been sitting in the same spot for ~3 months now and there is no visible dust film accumulating. I guess I got lucky that it's stashed in the only 'clean' part of my shop. rolleyes.gif

Is the Aquaero progrmmable from Linux? Does it need any software running on the rig? It does look nice at a first glance though...

It is a standalone system and you can also use it in combination with a Windows system and their aquasuite software. I am going to use someones laptop and install the software on it, then connect the AQ5 to it and set everything from there. No software to install needed. Then unplug it and let it run standalone on the 4P. You should be able to do everything with the AQ5 on its own without the aquasuite software. But it is just easier since you have a full windows view and the AQ5 doesn't have a 24 inch lcd screen on it.

A lot of people I know run the AQ5 system in their watercooled system. It is a very good system, a tad expensive perhaps, but a lot of options and safe for a system. Especially if you're running low wattage fans like the Gentle typhoons you can hook up a LOT of them on it, add 2 flowmeters, some tempsensors and expand it with powerstations for even more flowmeters and fans and sensors.
