I'm catching up on the thread from the beginning, if this has already been covered since, my apologies.

I have a 7950 overclocked and a 9600 GT for physx and I am getting mostly around 55 FPS, dropping to around 30 - 35 FPS during heavy use but I put that down to the 7950, not Physx as I would get the drops with or without Physx.

I'm playing at 1080p all settings maxed except AA which is set to 2x and Vsync on. Game looks stunning on my Panasonic ST50B, if anyone has the chance, play this game on a plasma TV to take even further advantage of the lighting with the plasma black levels.

I dislike the plasmas for gaming, above all large... not for image quality or response time, but because of the noticeable pixels when you are near the screen... i love to play not so far from the screen. IMO plasmas are good to watch movies and dtv...

I guess it varies between TVs to some extent then. You must sit pretty close though, I just measured 20" from the screen is where I can make out individual pixels on a white background, add detail and it is something like 3"
You must sit pretty close to your screen! Although it is too far off topic now, I should add that you should give big screen gaming a go, I have a 120" 1080p screen also which is unbelievable to game on, I can't wait to play metro on it with my surround sound. The most immersive gaming experience i've had the pleasure of having smile.gif Then put the 3D glasses on! thumb.gif I will have to make do as I am working away from home right now but to bring it back on topic, Metro LL will be the first game I get going on it thumb.gif

Is this one of those games where highest settings, eg tess max and ssaa make no visual difference but huge performance hit?

I picked this up for steam today, gotta complete Bioshock 2 first though.

What engine does this game use. it was about a 7gig download so not a load of HD textures and some of the details in the game are amazing. Most realistic panel type thing I've ever seen!

Indeed the textures are something else, and it hardly uses vram by todays standards which is also crazy.

Very strange, no complaints here though! Run nice on one 7970 also. They did an amazing job.
installed the AMD patch for Metro and things are running nice and smooth now, though I still have to run on Normal settings and I can tell there's some nice visuals I'm not experiencing in full. Still it's a really nice looking game, and if I were a reasonable person my 6950 would be perfectly adequate for gaming in the foreseeable future. If.
