You're right... I had a 2600K & it doesn't give the same benchmark numbers nowhere close to my 3770K. I'm getting almost 12,300Physics on it @ 4.8GHz. I couldn't even muster 11,200 @ 5.2GHz on my 2600K

To the OP, the 2600K is a far better choice than a 3570K cause of HT

i think your oc on the 2600K was not stable, though, or throttling. i get 11380 physics for 5GHz. yours at 200 more should be nearer to 12000.

IPC differences between SB and IB are mostly unnoticeable in real world useage. And SB seems to clock just that little bit higher to offset IB's IPC increase. So for cheaper and HT, the 2600K wins out in pretty much every case except in pulling off a few extra numbers in benchmarks(single threaded).

So unless single thread benchmark scores are what you want, go with the 2600K. Cause for everything else, it will be better, and cheaper.
