Transfer ONLY OS to ssd

Thread Starter
Hey,
Basically I currently have 2 HDD's, a 500gb one which has my win 7 on and all my installed applications. I then have a 1TB which has all my music, films + backups on etc..

Im want to buy the Samsung 840 pro SSD but preferably the 128gb version. and this is primarily just for the OS. (maybe a few other things if and when I need it.)

http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/memory-cards-hdd-odd/ssd/840-pro/MZ-7PD128BW

Is there any way I can transfer just the OS onto the ssd from the 500gb without having to reinstall all my applications back onto the 500gb again afterwards?

Cheers,
Josh

In a word, no.

If you have a Windows install disk, just reinstall
You'll still have to reinstall all your programs though.

Have a look at nLite.
You'll still have to reinstall all your programs though.

You can, you just need to make sure your current OS drive's OS partition is smaller than your new drive you are cloning to.

I think it's possible but a fresh install is better and it won't take much time.
