*RESOLVED* New updated Diamond AMD Radeon 7970 questions

Thread Starter
Has anyone else seen this on amazon here lately? Just went up a couple weeks ago and started off stating it was a updated version of the Reference card made by Diamond Multimedia. At the time it was put up on the site, it stated it was out of stock and can be pre-ordered, but now its in stock and Newegg or tigerdirect doesn't have anything on this. I just want to get some more info on this cause I might buy one.

Looks to be a Black PCB instead of Blue, but it only has one picture. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated due to no other site I have found has info on this new card.

Edit: Also, guess I should of listed this first, but here is the link of the reference AMD 7970 by Diamond on Amazon, on the page it says below that there is a newer model of this item and lists the link above. Check it out. Also hoping it is a updated reference with a new cooler so that I can rip it off and place a reference water block on it.

Bump. Anyone have a clue about the new card? Just a new cooler? All specs seem to be the same, but I wanna know if anyone has it and how well it functions. Its at $429 on Amazon.

That's not a new card. What you linked is the alternate pcb, the LFR19A aka 7970PE53GV2. It's a cheaper pcb. Anyways, I would stick to the basic card, 7970PE53G but its your money.

And see..thats the thing, I know its on Diamonds website, however, it wasn't for sale until just a couple days ago. It says its a new product on Amazon and I cant find it anywhere else except Diamonds website and Amazon. It wasn't sold out on Amazon at the time I saw it and if you look at the second link, Amazon even says its a updated card. I dunno, just strange to me. tongue.gif

You misunderstand, that card is more than a year old... er actually its as old as the original release. See that LFR19FA? Check the date. Whether Diamond is just getting around to selling it is coincidence imo sine they are not a producer themselves. They sell re-branded cards.

Wow! Well thank you for this! I didn't notice that print on the card before you should me that! Sorry I misunderstood the first time, just I never seen the card before and I dont see any other sites selling it or any other information on it, but now that I know its not a reference card, im not going to get it. biggrin.gif Rep for you good sir for helping me out! thumb.gif

Edit: Btw, I saw in another thread that someone mentioned a person called "Thracks" that I should contact about getting those free games even if I can purchase the reference Diamond card off of their home website. Should I contact him or do you know anything about it? (Nevermind about that question, just had it answered by doing some research.) Thanks again. smile.gif
