You are going to ditch two titans for two lower performing 780s?

So you will be spending extra money for less performance? You certainly won't get 100% return on the Titans, so you will be losing money there, just for less?

I will never understand that logic.

lets keep the discussion clean guys, everyone has their own preferences. lets accept them and have a good debate on the matters.

I am being civil, I simply stated I will never understand the reasoning behind that.

We already know for sure what the 780 will be and how it will perform.

yes this is true. what I do not understand is why they would make the 770's and 760's running on the same 256bit memory bus as their predecessors. that is the logic i really don't understand lol.

although I do believe a 256bit memory bus is sufficient, but isn't the 700 series supposed to be better tech and they only made one model have it? hmmm. I guess they are really confident on a 256bit memory bus to be optimal until 8xx. I trust the engineering gods on this one.

if i was going to sli some 770's id just get the 680's instead. itd be cheaper and still running on the same memory bus. Although i would make none of my money back in the end. Id have a cool collection of 680 classys to decorate my man cave with.

Three Titans for three 780s. While I appreciate your concern for my financial well being, I will be just a ok. Lol.
I am done with the Titans. No one is asking you to understand any logic. I hope you and others enjoy their Titans. I sincerely mean it. smile.gif

Well however many. Whatever the reasoning, its a loss of money for less performance. Especially since the 780 is going to be nearly identical to the titan... just not as powerful.

To each his own I guess.

these are true first world problems lmao. The more I think it, the more I am leaning toward the 680 SLI. Since i wont be upgrading for so damn long, my common sense just won't let me pick the fancy titan over a build i know will do me more justice for a longer time period. But i want the pretty TITAN so bad. Plus by the time i do upgrade, I can upgrade to something much better than the TITAN.

just like having to SLI 670's to match a TITAN, we will be having to SLI TITANS to match the next big bad wolf. 4 years is just too long to hold on to one TITAN. 680's or 670's would be a better investment in performance for a 4 year time frame. The TITAN is very powerful, but a dual card solution will hold its performance for longer than a single card can. Improvements in SLI in the future will make this even more true

armando666, forgive me, but even I can not understand this slight downgrade from Titan 3x @ 780 3x

I fail to see how the dual card solution is better, unless it is more powerful. Those cards aren't going to magically get faster as time goes on, and they are severely limited by their available vram.

Remember back when we gamed with 768MB graphics cards just a couple years back? Or 1GB ones? Maybe if you shelled out for 4G 680s now, they might hold their own... But that is only slightly edging out a titan, has less available Vram, and god forbid you run into any sli issues in the future (even if it is just a bad patch)

The value is better, but a titan has far more staying power. That is why I chose it. My choice has been solidified by the announcement that the 780 will be a crippled titan.

I could have just bought 2 680s now, sure. I would have even saved some money. But the advantages of one card was worth the additional cost to me personally.
