Well, there is a short answer and a long answer. The short answer is

Just Because I Can biggrin.gif

The long answer is a bit more philosophical, and I would not want to bore you..perhaps another time smile.gif

The long and short of it is that you just don't like having too much money burning a hole in your pockets.

Or you are the kind of person that thinks the newest thing is by default the best to have.

The long and the short of it is that I can't stand people like you and your ilk who don't mind their own business. !mad.gif

Am i telling you to do something here? no, so what do you care mad.gif
very hypocritical of you, spending money on a Titan, but judging others...
can we move on now!!

Remember back when we gamed with 768MB graphics cards just a couple years back? Or 1GB ones? Maybe if you shelled out for 4G 680s now, they might hold their own... But that is only slightly edging out a titan, has less available Vram, and god forbid you run into any sli issues in the future (even if it is just a bad patch)

The value is better, but a titan has far more staying power. That is why I chose it. My choice has been solidified by the announcement that the 780 will be a crippled titan.

I could have just bought 2 680s now, sure. I would have even saved some money. But the advantages of one card was worth the additional cost to me personally.

well yes I am talking about the 4gb ones. They do perform pretty well over the TITAN for only around 200 dollars more and at that price point, 200 is nothing when we are talking about a 4 year time span. Of course they will not magically get faster, but the TITAN won't as well. SLI 680's will always and forever be above the TITANS performance. As soon as I get done with my school, grab me a nice starting salary of 55k-70k a year as a software engineer with a nice company, I won't care what I got now. Ill go ahead and grab the best then too. I just need this to last me until then and that is it. I think the 680's can do this for me better than the TITAN could. Nvidia Inspector is my best friend so SLI issues aren't really a worry. This technology will get so much better anyways.

I wasn't talking to you, or about you or your titans but you started in on me.

This is a more or less public forum, and we are allowed to question your opinions. I am not being insulting, perhaps snide.

the long answer (maybe).
biggrin.gif

you can not bear to be in possession of price-performance video cards very BAD. Indecent even more when it comes to the 780 will be almost the same performance for a much lower cost

We cannot say yet that it will be a much lower price. it could be around 700, 750, or 800. who knows. What we do know is that Nvidia knows people will buy it within the 700-800 price range anyways. if you can buy 2 670 4GBs and match the titan for 100 less, then they could go ahead and make the 780 800 dollars. 200 less for slightly lower performance of a titan or 100 less for equal to a little bit better than a TITAN. Seems reasonable to me. Id still buy it for 800 honestly. because it is still a fair price on the market. They played their cards very well with the release of the TITAN. 2 780's for 1600 is still a fair price.
