[CB] Metro: Last Light Hard Difficulty Is Premium DLC. - Page 12

The future of gaming:

$60 » Game
$5 » Activation
$5 » Extra difficulty modes
$10 » Unlock crappy content (skins) already on the disk
$30 » Short DLC that would never be worth more than $10 (think Hearthfire)

Good job guys! thumb.gif

When are gamers going to get smart and just resort to the Pirate Bay? I mean seriously every single tripple A company that makes a game now has some crappy day one DLC, DRM, or season pass junk that basically locks you out of the game. Meanwhile pirates suffer absolutely ZERO of these problems.

In ANY other business in the world companies are forced to adapt or to die. If a company screws over it's customers in a bad way they quickly lose profits and die. It doesn't matter though b/c another company will step in their place. The gaming industry though is completely bullet proof it seems. Every company out there (with the exception of indie devs) continues to do whatever they want and people just eat it up like candy asking for more.

So if everyone just pirated and they lost all their money they would be forced to adapt by ending all of this crap they keep spewing out. That or simply cease to exist. If that happened do you really honest to God think no one would take their place??

Have you people seriously bought into the train of thought that piracy could actually kill an entire industry? The video game industry is HUGE! There are way to many people who love playing and who love creating to let it die for good. This entire "oh the devs must get paid or no more games will be made" is simple mass paranoia created by the leaders of the current industry.

To end just for the sake of argument, say somehow it was true and the entire gaming idustry just collapsed. There is always Kickstarter.

I remember seeing Angry Joe rant about this I believe a few days ago. This is BS.

Where did I say that I supported it? All I'm doing is pointing out it's not completely the developer/publisher's fault and it's not some money making scheme. I'm simply saying blame the damn retailers and boycott them, not a developer who makes good games and deserves support. They're obviously aware having to do this sucks which is why they actually responded rather than having people just deal with it while they wait for all the casual gamers (aka the majority of the people who will buy the game who probably won't even care about ranger difficulties) to make them their money.

Metro LL ranger hardcore is a bit overrated IMO. Talk about break of immersion when you have a watch that magically blinks blue when you can be seen. Anyway, the AI is so abysmal you wouldn´t even need such a watch. People can only spot you if you are on a really bright spot anyway, even on rooms with good illumination. Trust me, it´s THAT EASY!

If you don't think they're telling the truth, then what do you think their reasoning for it is? and don't say money because selling something that only appeals to a very small portion of the people who are going to be buying your game for a measly $5 isn't exactly the best way to rake in some cash.

Also, you people need stop acting like Ranger mode is the only way to play the game. Yes, it's more enjoyable when you're a hardcore gamer.. but Metro 2033 was still awesome without it. Yes, they say it's the way it's meant to be played, but that's not really true. It's just a hell of a lot more immersive and a bit more difficult. What's Metro 2033 got without it? It still has a very strong story and gameplay and, not to mention, very pretty and atmospheric. Ranger mode hardly makes the game to anyone who isn't a hardcore gamer.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if 4A ends up giving it away to PC gamers at some point.

$5 times 100,000 sales equals $.5 million...which is probably 10% of the production costs. A couple salaries for some middle managers. A DLC can add up fast especially if people just buy them because they are cheap and don't want to miss out on something so probably a lot more than 100,000 will end up buying it since I'd expect this game to sell at least a million copies across all the platforms. Money was the only single reason why they did it...if there was any other reason their arm wasn't twisted too hard before they complied.

However, yeah...as far as I am concerned the game is 100% complete at the $60 price tag. I've only played a little bit of Ranger Mode in 2033, but that was because it was the same story line and I had already done it twice. Changing the health and/or damage in the game does not make a new game. Though neither does adding a new hat, but that doesn't stop all those types of DLCs from being sold...and bought by lots of people.

Lol

Yes! I´m not saying everything is bright in the game.

This just so happened when I was beside an oven, and the guard looked directly to me, but didn´t see me. Stealh IS overpowered on this game. A LOT! You are either visible, or invisible, and there´s no middle ground.
