If a company puts a lot of money and time into making a game that is exceptional, 60-70$ is a small price to pay. But what bugs me about this is the fact that 4a openly admitted to having an incredibly small budget for the game by AAA standards. Say that the entire game including marketing and distribution cost 10 million dollar and they sell 3 million copies at 59.99. That's 180 Million dollars they just made from a game that took relatively little time to make with relatively little money. This is the dilemma of the market. Games are becoming cheaper to make because of technology and yet lack of innovation, and in that a lack of resources used. If you factor inflation into the mix, some of the games made 10-20 years ago would cost 2x as much as they do now (cough final fantasy 7) but for good reason.
Take Call of duty; 10 million dollars to make the game, 50 million to market it. That means of the 59.99 to buy that game, 50$ of it is diverted to trying to get you to buy the game. You're essentially paying a high price to pay a high price. Anyway I think that they should have included ranger mode free and jumped off this easy-cash DLC bandwagon. My 2 cents.

In the end its your choice to buy the game or not publishers that don't put in alot of effort into their game but charge the 60$ pricetag probably will not get much sales. except in the case of COD where more is spent in the marketing of the game which is a powerful tool. The last game I spent 60$ for was diablo 3 and I regret, the game was crap and I was bought in by friends recommendations of Diablo 2 and Blizzard''s marketing. I still buy games on release but I never pay 60$ for them, but for me to buy a game on release it has to be really good. COH 2 and Rome 2 seem like the only games that will be bought on release this year.

Also people need to stop going to steam for their purchases or at least buying it from the steam store, its a ripoff. You need to grasp opportunities when they are available, I bought Bioshock Inf for 13$, Coh 2 for 25$, dishonored 14$, Tomb Raider 10$

I'm more than happy to spend $60 on game to support developers that I really like. Even if there's not much innovation and it's not a huge step forward in gameplay (if it ain't broke.. don't fix it), developing a game still seems to be a pretty difficult job with long work days and brutal schedules. That's just for a regular developer as well.. 4A has to deal with a lot more being based out of Ukraine and I respect them even more for it.

I don't understand statements like this. Do people really hate the ability to download new content? Why is it DLC that you hate and not the fact that developers and publishers tend to abuse it? There's plenty of good DLC out there so I don't understand why people make it to be some evil entity that's destroying the industry. It's rather silly..

Yep, this is why I wait until GOTY or complete edition before buying the game.

Smh..more than half of all the whiners complaining about this probably won't even complete, let alone touch Ranger Mode. Any real fan of the series knows where to get a good deal on the game or any other game they're a fan of for that matter. I mean really, unless your a big fanboy of the studio/devs making the game or have no clue as to where and how to get the game you want at an attractive price below release price than you should be complaining to yourself for your ignorance. But than again there will always be people content with what they know of how to get what they want and others who don't know to how so they complain about it. "For every action there is an opposite and opposing reaction."

I would not say there is plenty of good DLC's. There are some but most are a huge rip off. Even when the DLC is good content vice the pricing is often set way to high in relation to the content.

I can list quite a few really good DLCs that's all worth the money spent on them. Heck.. just look at almost every Bethesda DLC. I can also list a bunch of good free DLC as well. People seem to only focus on the bad while completely ignoring the good.

what if all that content is already made when the game releases, its on the disk when you buy it. DLC can add life to a game but what about the practice of selling what should have been in the game to begin with. They are carving the games up like they are dead cows, prime rib for loyal preorders and chuck steak for those who don't feel like betting burned again with a crap title.

This is what I meant about people only focusing on the bad and ignoring the good. That kind of stuff only happens some of the time and I don't agree with it either, but what about all the decent DLC that comes out post-release? Hell, even some of the day one DLC that's not on disk is simply developed in that waiting period between getting certified/going gold and the actual release when developers don't really have much to do.

I don't even agree with this DLC. However, I can understand why it exists and can see that 4A is doing their best to please their fans as well. Having all first-run limited editions contain the bonus so the people who don't want to pre-order can still get it after the release is a good way to get the DLC out to people with no extra cost.
