I also played a lot of 2D games, and slower paced 3D adventure games too and there always much more entertaining than an on rails linear FPS. Face it, people buy games like metro to see better graphics, its got precious little to do with gameplay, which is fine but you pay through the nose for a tech demo with a gun and the corps know this hence getting GPU buy in from Vendors

Did you play Metro 2033, though? What you're saying makes it seem like you really haven't played it, because it is so much more than something pretty to look at. It may not be your cup of tea, but it's a very well done game that was worth the full price.

Also, the problem with what you're saying is that not everyone feels the same as you. Everyone has a preference which means some people may not enjoy the smaller indie games and tend to enjoy games with higher production values and whatnot.

In an unrelated story...Pirate Bay has seen an increase in visitors since the release of Last Light winksmiley02.gif Not encouraging it or anything. Just saying... Not the best way to treat your loyal fans.

Do you forget that this game isn't PC only? Console gamers, who will probably account for the majority of the sales, still have to go through normal retailers who can simply not stock the developer's product if they don't do what's asked of them. If the majority sales are to console gamers, refusing to stock your product is a big deal.

It's nothing against loyal fans. If you're that loyal, it's likely that you're going to be preordering or buying within the first week of release anyway when it's still possible to get this bonus with no extra charge.

I've stared them down though, but it's rarely necessary. Since the good weapons can be found throughout the game for free, you can just put all your golden bullets towards ammo and gas masks, but it's usually not necessary (especially with the ninpo throwing knife approach).

Yeah, a lot the time I was leaving ammo behind because I couldn't carry any more. I guess the atmosphere of the game lead me to feeling like I should play more stealthy. Though I only played through it twice to get each ending. I played a little bit of the ranger mode, but I can only replay a story so many times...unless it is something long and epic like Baldur's Gate or something.

I remember the first time I came to a Librarian...I hid in a room with a hole in the wall shooting it. Took about half the ammo I had plus some dynamite to drop it...I just reloaded from the last check point and snuck past them.

....and?

One statement is your opinion. There are many very good linear shooters out there. I enjoy both open-world ones as well as many linear ones. The second statement...so what? People buy games because the gameplay is fun, because the graphics are amazing and take advantage of the $3,000 they spent on their rig, because they like art-style, because it's a way to chill with their friends, because they heard something appealing about it... there's a ton of reasons. Add good graphics to the list of them. Not really sure what you're point is.

btw im not trolling conspiracy, Metro has its place, i suppose its an 'experience' but at least crysis has multiplayer and mod capability

I think their original point was just a plug that people don't have to go spend $65 for a good game. That really is all. Though I have a good feeling that if you did go buy Last Light for $65 you would get a great game.

However, I have to agree that the majority of the good games I have played in recent years were $20 or less games from no-name publishers. Though when a game is released form a major publisher with a large price tag and has had millions put into the development for it...I sort of expect more. So while a AAA game might actually be better than an indie game if you compare them directly...I just expect more from the AAA so it is easy for the indie game to look really good. A newly released game called StarDrive is probably the best game I have bought so far in 2013 in my opinion...it is very indie, but yet I am having a blast with it. I have a feeling I will be playing this game for a long time.

That I can agree with. But the first play trough, man what a great experience. Some games don't have much replay value and that's OK as long as the first play trough is good enough. I liked Crysis 1 to and yet never played it trough a second time or touched the multiplayer. If I want to play with others I much prefer to play games that where designed for that from the ground up like Killing Floor, Counter strike, L4D2, league of legends ect.

From my experience there aren't that many games that have both good single player and multiplayer. Usually one ends up lackluster.

I'm disappointed the STEAM code provided by nVidia doesn't qualify for ranger mode....

What a crappy thing to have your name smeared all over when people are starting to question your other products price to performance value, and as you release an overpriced mobile device.

However the most entertaining thing about this is the fact that the devs for Metro somehow think the game is more difficult when you make the enemies die quicker (MOAR REALISTIC!!!) and they give you more powerful guns. Am I missing something here, because upping base gun damage across the board and then giving the player more powerful weapons doesn't seem like it'd make the game more difficult beyond "omg I can't find teh AMMOS!"

The omg I can't find ammo is kinda of a big deal. The main thing is that you really need to pick your shots and not waist ammo spraying. The need for accuracy is what makes it harder.
