Ultra X-Blaster side panel case mod.

Thread Starter
I got an Ultra X-Blaster case with a BB kit from TD for my new computer build. it was inexpensive and the case wasn't horrible so I went ahead and got it. Initially I did not intend to do a mod to the case but as I got deeper into the build, upgrading the components, adding fans and such, I was beginning to have a desire to see the work I had put into it.

Stock with 2 120mm yellow fans

I took the center out of the panel and replaced the entire thing with 1/4 inch plex. I then to the grill that i had cut out, evened out the edges with a band saw then a file, rotated it 90* from it's original position, squared it on the plex, then drilled holes in the plex for mounting screws. I marked on the plex where the 120mm fans would go then cut the center out with a dremel (NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PLEX, it doesn't cut, it melts) after an hour of cutting I got the center removed from the plex, mounted the fan grill then glued the new plex to the panel using silicone.
and this is the result I got:

New window in my side panel.

overall I am very happy with it, but I did lose a fan in the process, the 5.25 bay interferes with the second fan so I had to remove it. But! I made up for the loss by making my other 3 fans all intake fans and letting the air passively flow out of the grill that would have had the other fan.

Not bad at all smile.gif I will say the case looks nicer with the window in it too.
