Thread Starter
I would like to overclock my cpu, but I don't know what setting. I found a post showing how to do it with the same cpu I have on the same motherboard, but it keeps failing to overclock. I did have it clocked at 3.7GHz. I have a water cooling system that is keeping it cool, but the setting keep failing Here is what I am using.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 960 @3.20GHz
Sabertooth x58
DDR3 12 GB

I would be so grateful for anyone who can help me overclock my syste

OK

Go in to the BIOS and note down all the settings you are currently using and post them here. To clarify this is a i7 960 we are talking about (your tittle says 920) ?

When you try going over 3.7 GHz what BSOD error code are you getting?

I'm sorry, that was a typeo, it is a i7 960. All the setting in BIOS are set to the default settings. I'm sorry if that is not enough, the settings are just set to auto and enabled.

Well there's your problem biggrin.gif Auto will only get you so far. You should probably take the time to read some guides

Quick google turned this up --> http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?board_id=1&model=P6T+Deluxe&id=20081220191040237&page=1&SLanguage=en-us
Didn't read much of it so not to sure how well written it is but its something.

Now then for some general settings to get you started

CPU Ratio Setting: 21x
Intel SpeedStep Tech: Disabled
Intel Turbo Mode Tech: Disabled
BCLK Frequency: 200 depends on your target OC so start with 180 and work your way up
DRAM Frequency: DDR3-1603MHz -- asuming your ram can do 1600

CPU Voltage: ~1.32500 the need for vcore varies but expect to bump this up to even 1.35 and beyond to hit +4.0 GHz
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.82
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.34375 perhaps 1,35 if needed
IOH Voltage: 1.20
ICH Voltage: 1.20
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.64
Load Line Calibration: Enabled
CPU Spread Spectrum: Disabled
PCIE Spread Spectrum: Disabled
All Other Settings: Auto

Another great thread to read and learn from is posted below. At the bottom of the guide is some great info on BSODs for the X58 platform.

I don't have the the opption for DDR3 1603. I have one for 1443 and 1804 MHz. I tried the 1804 MHz and with the settings you have showed. And it tells me that the overclock failed. So I dorped it down to the 1443 MHz and got the clock speed to 3.7GHz

I found out that when I just go with 180, I don't get the 1603MHz
