Build for a Friend, $1,000 Gaming PC

Thread Starter
Hello Everybody,

I need help piecing together a 1,000 build for a friend. This also has to include a full copy of windows so all together it will be $900 for parts.
He already has a monitor and other accessories. This is his first build as well, so he doesn't have any spare stuff lying around.

I will post a parts list later that i put together and hopefully i will get some awesome suggestions from the community as well.

Thank you

At $1000 two cards is never a good idea.

And yes gaming or editing? Overclocking usually come with gaming eventually.

$1000 isnt that high for gaming and you always want to buy the most expensive single GPU you can instead of two cheaper ones. Pretty standard rule for best performance.

Lower power consumption, no microstuttering, more room for future expansion, support for more games, better individual performance for games that don't support CF/SLI, etc., etc.

Always go with a single, more powerful card.

Thanks for the backup. I thought it was pretty well known.

If you are going to waste your time with SLI make sure its a 7970, 680, Titan, or soon to be 780.

yea but i have absolutely nor problem with my cards. im not talking bs,
my idle power consumtion went from 105 to 125W and my average fps are
like the average fps of one titan in the valley thread. i thought like you until i tried thumb.gif

only thing is upgrading.. but from my point of view.. its like i´m having one titan now and
when its time to upgrade it will be time to get a complete new platform so why not then.

microsutter may be a risk. especially using AMD cpu paired with 2 AMD gpus..
its due a lack on the chipset on many boards.

i really have also nor problem using just one card.. but guys pls dont shoot before thinking (;
no offense

"Thanks for the backup. " why this? we arent against each other here.. just some nice talk

edit
also if using amd cards you may experience more incompability with using both cards
because the driver management is different than nvidias... although my next card will be AMD again
you can force sli on every game, you just need to find the right sli- bits.. that is the same nvidia does when
adding games profiles.
