[Build Log] Project TARDIS (350D XL-ATX MOD) - Page 3

Nice, it'll probably work fine and look good while at it anyway...the case is gorgeous, plain and simple.
Can't wait to see some updates!

Guys, I don´t know what to do... I can´t decide...
First I was going to build on the 900D, after decided to mod and build on the 350D, but...

It seems like the 900D will be availiable sooner in my country (about a week diference only, but sooner than the 350D anyway) and I have the money to buy it...
Getting a 350D + the materials and a couple of tools to mod it would have the same price than a 900D.

350D will look more unique, but the 900D is an awesome case which I think I will never need to change for a bigger one. I have always wanted the computer on my desk, not on the floor, so a clossus 10 meter height caselabs case will never be a choice.

The 900D will look prety empty with 1 or 2 GPUs, a couple of hard drives and no water cooling.
The 350D may be too tight (I still don´t know if I´ll be able to fit my mobo without modding the floor or the backside panel) and I may not be able to use MDPC sleeve in some cables due to that tightness (and that would be a shame as I have about 160 meters on my bed right now xD)

Let me know you thoughts, what would you do?

I know some of you may be wanting to see it on the 350D as much as I do, and building in the 900D won´t be anything awesome, but think about there´s a small chance of expending about 150$ in the 350D and finally figure out that the mobo doesn´t fit in. Or even worst, expend those 150$, and about another 150$ more on tools and matertials and after that screw it up and ruin the case xD (I have done window mods before, but that´s all my experience with aluminium)

Also thought a little bit about the fans. Probably will go for Corsair´s SP fans, as I just remembered that there is a PWM version, and I really apreciate silence xD
But who nows?! I´m so undecided right now that I may end up buying noctuas and painting them pink and green! xD

I'm not really sure...Maybe some middle ground and go for another case altogether, in a similar size?
The new CM N200 looks like a nice challenge to fit bigger stuff in it. What do you think? Or does it have to be a Corsair case?

As for the fans, that's a fine choice, specially pwm controlled and bought in two-packs.

Yeah, allways buying fans in 2 units packs if available, normally I use pair numbers, and if I got one short/long I can allways buy/sell it spare.

At the beggining of the year it was all about building arround Corsair (I really like their products), now I have a Razer mouse and I was considering on silvertone fans xD so it doesn´t need to be a Corsair case, I could think in others but the design on the 900D/350D is awesome, and I haven´t seen anything like that in the same price range.
Maybe the best option would be to wait for that 650D v2, but who knows when will it be for sale..

The N200 is almost the same that the 350D, will requiere allmost the same modifications as the motherboard won´t fit in and I would have to look for another location for the PSU.
The only plus on that case if the price xD but having only 4 slots means less space between the motherboard and the floor... so definetly imposible to fit the motherboard there :S

I am not sure if this is a option but why not sell the board you already have and get an M-atx board. By doing this there will be no mod and you can try water cooling maybe. Also just going to a smaller size will have it on the desk and also just something new I guess

Hmm, that makes sense,
It may be the cheapest and easiest solution..
I´ll think about it tomorrow, need to sleep now (it´s 5:44 in the morning here xD)

Sorry, I decided to drop the project.
I´ll wait for the 900D and just build on it, there will be time and money in the future to fill it completely.
So there won´t be anything special on my build, besides custom cables, and there´s no point on calling it project tardis anymore.
