I tried to pass 4.7 on my ivy, went from 1.35 to 1.49, couldnt get stable, dropped back to 1.35 and my chip degraded already now its 1.36 for 4.5 biggrin.gif
(was stressing and benching chip for 30+ days at 1.35 with no whea erros and after not even 12hours ofr some 1.49 my chip decided to age frown.gif at 1.49 i wasn't breaking 75C)

That is why I said test your chip with games. you stressed your CPU 100% for 30 days what you reckon?

1.49v at 100% load for 30 days+, you'd better off running at 1.5v doing normal things. If you don't get errors for doing normal things then it doesn't matter whether it's 100% stable or not.

try go to the gym and exhaust yourself in one session vs moderate workout over 5 days, you'll know what I mean. These stress test make your system do things that it never will.

thanks for all the thought, but you should spend more time reading what i post because you seem to have misinterpreted everything biggrin.gif

at 1.35 for 30days 4.5ghz i had no issue, i ran for 12hours 1.49 and 4.5 required +0.010 more vcore

Ok no worries, but you did say stressing and benching for 30 days+.

but doesn't matter, what I wanted to say is still the same. High voltage but moderate load is better than those guys stressing 100% for days. People said it all the time, I did 8 hrs but then error at 12hrs so now I do 24hrs / 48hrs. I'm not afraid of high voltage but everytime I run linx/ibt/prime95 I feel pain for my CPU.

BTW, 1.49v unstabled for 4.7Ghz sounds about right for your chip. You probably need 1.4x vcore for 4.6Ghz and way over 1.5v for 4.7Ghz judging by the voltage you run for 4.5Ghz.

I run 4.7Ghz at about the same voltage as your 4.5Ghz and look how much vcore I need it to bump up 300Mhz. At 4.8Ghz I'm near 1.45v already. It's like what Prophet in Crysis 3 said "Victory cost a bit more everytime biggrin.gif).

Anyways, these people overreacted. Just because I ran 1.6v for 5Ghz doesn't mean I run it everyday It was just to see the limit, I run 4.7Ghz for daily uses, duh! Besides $350 for 3770k, 365 days a year 95c a day if the chip died in a year, com'on! They acted like I'm beating a 5 years old with a baseball bat or something.

What's ur stable voltage for lower clock? There's a chance you might have over volt it. You might have missed lower voltage and went too high.

Can you use offset?

On a side note, I think this chip can take more than what ppl think it can. Why else would intel gives you a cheap protection plan which screams kill you chip and get a new one on us. LOL just what I think, because they don't have to do this.

Haven't really tested much below 4.6GHz (which from memory was around 1.42V or something like that).
Reason is, I've got a 3770 non-k that does 43 multi and 107.5 bclk so that's 4.6Ghz with 4 threaded load or 4.4GHz with 8 threaded load.
My 3570k needed to beat that or it wasn't worth having in there.

Also, I've tried both manual and offset voltage - seems identical requirements.

P.S. - I think I've damaged it now - had it almost stable last night at 4.9GHz 1.644V and all of a sudden started getting multiple errors/crashes.
Upped the vcore to 1.7V and still doesn't come close to being stable.

Time to contact Intel. thumb.gif

Not to worry man, contact Intel is an excellent idea only $25 if I knew I wouldn't delidded my CPU (let it burns!!!!)

I don't think it is damaged thou, because it happened to me before. I think it means you went overboard with voltage causing even more instabilities. Also, I don't like OC with bclk I've tried it my chip just doesn't like bclk, it would be stable and then caused my game to drop frame rates. say if I used 102 x 45 it'll drop frame rates in game but 100 x 46 is ok (a bit more vcore thou).

after signing up with intel, you could try 1.6v again but change settings around.
And when you completely given up, try 2.75v then ring Intel up tongue.gif (jk)

Already signed up before I started thrashing the chip. thumb.gif

Just got to wait until my waiting period expires in a couple of weeks - it should be dead by then biggrin.gif

LOL! man since I heard of the protection plan I kept thinking. what if my chip died and I got a new one and actually get lucky with it?

Not encouraging you but I thought, if I got replacement my current vcore for 4.7Ghz could be my vcore for 5.xGhz LOL (if I'm lucky)
