P8Z77-I Mobo may have shorted - powers up but no post

Hi Guys, sorry for long post.

I discovered that my H80 waterblock was not making proper contact with the CPU as the metal standoffs attached to the back plate was loose. After seeing that some people with the same problem used washers between the back plate and mobo to fix the problem i decided to do the same. I used 4 x m4 nylon washers between the back plate and mobo and the looseness was rectified.

I fear that I may have shorted something, as after installing the components there is no video signal. The system powers on but screen is black.
Can the metal stand offs touching the CPU side of the mobo cause a short circuit. After close inspection i dont see any tracers near the 4 holes for mounting the CPU cooler....

There was only one instance of the post screen coming up after about 15 seconds from pressing the power button. my keyboard led and mouse led had no light so i pressed the rest switch but it would reset - i then cold booted.
I couldn't get it to happen again after countless turning on off - still blank screen.

I check all obvious causes, pci-e power cables, 12v atx plug, reseated ram, reseated vid card, reseated CPU, plugged dvi into IGP/Discreet, clear CMOS and still no video.

RMA would be pain as I used the PC for work.

Any help would be appreciated..>Cheers

Did it post correctly prior to you re-seating the H80?

Thanks for quick responses, the only red light i have is the mem test light, that goes off after after 1 second from powering up. The other lights are TPU on which is red when its on, and green power light.

Yes it booted fine before reseating h80
