Well, if I get a blue screen some time down the line I'll know why and can fix it then smile.gif

why dont you just prime it and then get no BSOD?
I overclocked the crap out of my rig.....it was easy I just pushed that little glowing button that says "OC Genie" smile.gif dont get me wrong If I could afford to throw away parts I would have fun with overclocking But I cant afford it so I dont.. Can I come over and learn on your computer? tongue.gif

Well at least 5 minutes proves that it won't blow up. It is better than nothing I suppose. I fully agree with you, but I have taken the horse to the water, at this point it is up to him whether he drinks it or not.

See, the difference here is, I'm not pushing it to see how far it can go.

4.5ghz isn't that much of an OC.

I don't understand why you would build a computer and want to overclock it and then just be lazy / impatient to do it right. Makes no sense.

Because it's cheaper then buying a premade computer with the same specs?

I understand it, stability testing takes a lot of time if you are trying to get the lowest voltages for your oc. If you are doing 12 hour tests it can take days till you get the settings right and it can be annoying.

I understand. I was p95 stable and everything. Then i played FC3 and bam, crash. Only thing that bsod with my oc. It can get very frustrating testing for days and thinking your stable after passing p95 and most games then get bsod's with 1 harsh game.

That's another reason I only bothered testing for 5 mins. Testing stability doesn't mean real use stability.

IMO it's not worth the effort to try to get the absolute max out of your hardware. Keep in mind hardware degrades over time too. If you push it to the limit, something like your heatsink getting a bit dusty after a while will make your system crash.
