Staff Opening: Events Manager

Thread Starter
We're opening up a talent search for for an Events Manager to join our staff team for the long term. The Events Manager role is a communication-heavy role where you would help coordinate happenings around the Overclock.net site. Do we have an overclocking event going on somewhere? You're helping get the stream onto the homepage. Does the Folding Editor Team have a new contest to promote? You work with them to craft their announcements, create graphics, arrange prizing, and promote the event on and off site. You would keep overclocking and gaming streams lined up for OverclockTV, and help coordinate content with our teams on the ground from special events like Computex and CES. Its a diverse set of roles that is sure to be dynamic and engaging, but would be perfect for someone who loves being on the cutting edge of overclocking and gaming and helping shape the way hundreds of thousands of people experience the latest happenings.

Specific skills we're looking for:
  1. Outstanding communication skills. A huge portion of this position is working with other teams in and around Overclock.net to accomplish large undertakings - being able to communicate with both fellow staffers and community members is a must.
  2. Consistent availability. You're not a 9-to-5er, and we're not even looking for a specific hourly commitment - but we need to know that when its time to get things done, we can count on you to get it done or be in communication early if something comes up.
  3. Experience with editorial productions in some form. Whether you've run websites, organized LAN parties, curated video game streams, worked in magazine publishing, or anything else - we're looking for someone with a good grasp of the details required to successfully coordinate and promote overclocking and gaming events.

Bonus skills:
  1. Knowledge of Photoshop or other graphics programs. Digital art skills and the ability to help create graphics for promotion purposes is a huge plus. If this isn't you, but you've enjoyed success working with someone in this field in the past, mention that, too!
  2. Social media. We know, we know - including this as a skill is bound to cause some groans - but if you are interested in helping to curate our social media feeds as they relate to the work you're doing, thats all the better.
  3. Versatility. We're doing our best to describe what we need completely in this post, but, the reality is we're working in a very dynamic environment. If you have a diverse skillset, even if it seems like it might not be relevant, be sure to mention what you can do.

So, whats in it for you?

Fair monetary compensation is available for you, in addition to the bevy of other perks available to our staffers (steep discounts on site merchandise and gear, lifetime Overclocked accounts and email addresses, holiday bonuses, professional references, etc). You also get the chance to shape the future of one of the premier online discussion boards for performance computing, providing 320,000 members and millions guests with the quality content that keeps them returning for 20 million page views each month.

Want a chance to prove yourself in an editorial role? This is it.

If you're interested, please email chipp@overclocked.net and briefly state why you'd like and are qualified for this position. Be sure to include relevant skills and your estimated availability.

Know someone who you think might be interested? Tell them! We'd love to hire an existing member, but won't turn away great candidates who might not have signed up with us yet.

Good luck, and please post/PM me with any questions.
