From what ive heard, it uses inferior quality keycaps, and suffers from some fairly common shorting issues.
Im using a CM Storm board, so im not in a position to really claim I have something like a Ducky or a DAS, but my experiences with the ultimate have been lackuster compared to other boards in the same price range.

I personally own a BlackWidow 2013. Not a single issue, and i'm not worried about N-KRO. Honestly how often do you press more than five keys at the same time?

Yes prices include VAT and i don't see any customs claiming a special tax on tiny plastic rings ...

Anyways have a lot of fun with your future keyboard. As always check different merch sites if you want the ultimate as you may find it cheaper than on the razerstore unless you decide to go ninja and pick the ultimate "stealth edition" which is a razerstore exclusive product.

cheers

So you've had bad experiences with the Ultimate?

Most mechanical keyboard enthusiasts will say Razer KBs rank at or near the bottom.

Sites such as geekhack and deskthrority as well as reddit.com/r/mechanicalkeyboards hate Black Widows. There's nothing wrong about them, however for the price you can get something with much higher quality.

I suggest you go those websites and find advice. Those who have owned the Razer BW as well as other mechanical keyboards at similar price points will not give you rave reviews about it. Those who have only owned the Razer BW will of course speak highly (barring any catastrophic failure or defect that may have occured) of it given that they have nothing to compare it with.

I had a vanilla BW and it was built like a tank..zero issues, the only problem is that it had Blue switches which are really really loud and annoying to anyone not typing (even with O-Rings). Sold it and got a Maxkeyboard X9 w/ Red switches.

We have a lot of Mechanical board people here, no need to go to other sights. Look for the Mech club and the Mech Keyboard information thread, they are both huge.

As for the BW... ah. what can I say. If you like the looks, that is a big thing. Looks and feel are important. But it falls for all the gimmicky and gamey things and dose not deliver the wow that a good board can. It is still much better than rubber though.

WASD, Coolermaster and Ducky are all boards that you could literally use to smash the Razor to bits, they are that well built. You can even get Ducky in an OCN branded form! Who doesn't like that?

As for colour? I am a red fan. It makes a good mix for gaming and typing. But I like brown for that too. I just got and tried blue. I love them! for typing and playing my old guy games. if you don't need super l33t skills like double tap they are fine. Not as good as black if you do though.

So my advice... Look around a bit more. See what else is out there. Sometimes Razor can be the cheapest one you can get. But even at same price I would take a CM Storm TK over one.

Haven't seen inside a CM storm TK, but the regular TKL is slightly over hyped. Outside of standard features, it uses a cheaper flame redundant single sided design. Cost wise, it isn't much off, but it adds up over many many keyboards. There are other advantages to this, but I'm slightly biased when I see this, be it mice or w/e.

Related to PCB, I consider the newer blackwidows a bit better, at least from an electrical design and component factor. Granted, I do not know if there are performance issues related to the KB itself.

There's a similar case with mice actually, I tend to avoid commenting on this type of thing though =x
