Boot time increase after connect to new HDD

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
Hello guys, mind to help me regarding this issue;

Recently i just bought myself a new Caviar Black 2TB to replace my 500GB Caviar Blue..since there's a lot off apps in the previous HDD, I decided to make a clean installation (reformatting)..

After installed all those drivers and softwares, I connect the HDD and switch it on..I noticed that it took so much time to boot..I did tried Sean's methods to install..but still the problem persist..Now it detects my HDD, tried to make new partition of 732GB...not sure about this but is it take so much time to format a new partition...

Kindly help me on this..thanks...

If you added the drive to a different controller, then it would add time because the drive controller would have to pick up the drive instead of the motherboard chipset.

For example, my AsRock motherboard has 6 Intel ports, but it also has 2 Marvell ports. If I hook a drive up to the Marvell ports, it takes longer because it scans those ports after the Intel ports.
