Very important question need to know asap! -NEW-

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a VPN which is both compatible with JAVA scripts (gaming application) and also allows me a considerable amount of ip address selection, available to me at any time to manually choose and use. In Summary, I need an VPN that provides me with an ip address which is seen by a java application as my only IP.

"Since the game is being run in a Java script, the proxy doesn't support Java. The proxy settings are changed within the web browser itself whereas the game runs outside of the web browser which causes the proxy to fail" - A different VPN providers technician

I know this is untrue for all VPN providers

My Request: What it is that I Need?
I need an ip address in which the third section of numbers is a number such as 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48 – anything so long as it is a factor of 8.
I need the fourth section to be a number as low as possible, such as 0, 1, 2 , 3 or 4. - anything below 6, preferrably. *The first and second section do not have an effect and can be anything*

WHAT IT IS THAT I NEED
I need an ip address in which the third section of numbers is a number such as 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48 -
a factor of 8.
I also need the fourth section to be the lowest number possible, such as 0, 1, 2 , 3 or 4. - anything below 6. The first and second section do not effect my situation and can be anything.

For example, 123.123.8.0 or 123.123.16.0 or 123.123.123.32.0

the truly ideal ip that I am searching for access to is an ip in which the third and fourth set are X.X.8.0

Please help me

Write Back as soon as possible please ~

Well, I can say that you won't get an IP of X.X.X.0, since that's not a usable IP address. I assume you are asking for a public IP address along those lines? Here's the thing though...ISPs have a block of IPs that they can sell/use, and rarely do you get to choose what IP you get. The ISPs in your area may not even have an IP in the range you are asking for. Why do you need an IP like that?

The last bit of an IP address cannot be zero. An IP address such as 192.168.1.0 would be the subnet ID for a network with a first address of 192.168.1.1, so if you want something lower than 6, your options are going to be 192.168.1.1 through 192.168.1.5.
To your question to get an IP with the criteria you're asking for, you're just going to have to ask your ISP. One can't just buy any IP address they want. Address spaces are assigned to regional Internet registries and then assigned to companies within those regions that require blocks of IP addresses, so your ISP may not have anything that matches your requirements.

Thank you, the responses received have already improved my knowledge and hopefully my ability to get what it is that I need...
X.X.8.1 or X.X.16.1 or X.X.24.1 or anything that has a third subset a factor of the number 8 and the fourth set between 1-5
This is for online interactive gaming, this will improve my ingame performance which is important as I am currently playing semi professionally

Now, is there anyone here who can lead me into my next direction? thanks!

i am intrigued how it will increase your ingame performance.

Speak to your ISP though regarding the IP

It won't :-)

Assuming there are no other extraneous variables at play and all routes are the same, having the ip 1.1.1.1 will offer no better performance than 1.255.255.255 or any other permutation there in

My home IP address is x.x.139.0. That is what's reported at WhatsMyIP.org and it's the address I use to RDP into my home network.

I'm gussing my ISP performs some sort of magic to make it work that way? Considering I'm by no means qualified to question your knowledge on the subject, could you explain to me what they're doing to make it work that way in my case?

You technically can get an IP ending in .0 or .255, but this is rarely going to happen for a public IP (I guess you are the rare exception). Take this example:

If we consider 172.16.0.0 / 255.255.0.0 as the preferred choice, then the network characteristics are as follows:

Network identifier: 172.16.0.0
Network Broadcast: 172.16.255.255
Valid (or usable) IP addresses: 172.16.0.1 to 172.16.255.254

If you take a closer look at the valid addresses, you'll notice that IP addresses 172.16.255.0 and 172.16.0.255 can be used!

The above example is the reason I didn't want you to memorize that all IP addresses ending in .0 or .255 cannot be assigned!

With that in mind, it is possible, but very unlikely since ISPs don't have public address with a range as wide as that.
