Worth upgrading from a 7970GE? Or are AMD's new cards going to turn things totally around?

If they they keep ALL FP64 cores in tact, it will be. eek.gif

I wouldn't be surprised if it came with 1/24 FP32 though.

Thanks smile.gif If the computing power is as good as the Titan's then I might consider getting it.

I think waiting would be a better option unless you want to go crazy with a 6 display surround with all games maxed out.

I would wait till amd has something to compete with this so that the prices come down a bit

So many optimistic folks in this thread....... I truly hope you guys are right but I just can't see $500-$600. NV has better drivers, they have the premium perception, the performance is close to Titan, and have the head start over AMD, there is no reason NOT to place this closer to $650-$750 price point.

How many of us basically STILL call a 680 a bad value compared to other cards? Even during launch and a few months later, BEFORE AMD drivers stepped it up, I still saw the general consensus was a 680 is a waste and just get the 670 since the price difference so much larger than the performance difference. We still have people who just want top performance so I think going with a 770 at $450 and the 780 at $650 with the Titan at the top makes more sense.

Again, I hope for all of our wallets you guys are right, I just don't think it's realistic. With the lead NV has they should charge $650 and then undercut AMD when they launch.
