Both for same price since the 680 is on sale where im going to buy it.

I am looking for the strongest card for gaming, no games in particular it needs to be good for.

Which one is the coolest and quietest?

I will not necessarily overclock, I will if the card is good for it thouhg.

I'd grab a nice 7950, personally. No point in spending $100 more for a 10% performance increase, at the most. Personally, I would go with an MSI Twin Frozr. Still, out of the two, go with the 7970gHz.

yeah the HD 7950 is the best bang for buck. at the same clocks HD 7950 is 5% slower than HD 7970. HD 7950(1100 Mhz) is on par with HD 7970 Ghz(1050 mhz).

OP between GTX 680 and HD 7970 Ghz, go with HD 7970 Ghz. its on average faster than GTX 680 both at stock and average OCs. hd 7970(1150 mhz) is on avg faster than GTX 680(1250 mhz). which country are you from ?

I'm from Sweden. Why? smile.gif

Thanks for the information by the way. I am going to play in 1440p, so don't you think that the extra 1 GB would be good?

I want something strong and future proof which will max most games for at least one year from now. Is that too much to ask when using resolutions this high? biggrin.gif

I do not really need a new card quickly, I'm currently sitting on a 6950 so it isn't all that bad. Not sure if I should just wait for next gen.
