Got a new to me card :)

Thread Starter
Just picked up a eVGA GTX 460 SC card for $55. Its not brand new, but new to me and has very little use. Got it from a friend who is in college and barely used his desktop, he mainly uses his macbook. My question is, I have been reading about dedicated physx cards and was wondering if it was worth it to keep my GTX260 in my system as a dedicated physx card until I find another GTX460 to run SLI? Will I notice any improvements at all?

Also - what are the watercooling block options for a 460? Looking to do a full watercooling setup - kind of tired of the noise from the fans.

Just use the gtx460. the gtx260 would probably offer worse physx performance then the gtx460 would while also playing a game. Plus it uses a good deal of power.

As for water block options I use swiftech universal GPU block on both of mine, using the stock vrm/memory heatsink. Works great
With watercooling you should be able to get around 900mhz on the core, might need to edit the bios for higher voltage. Did it to both of my 470's, pretty easy to do if I do say so myself.

Cool. Thanks. I was just doing some searching about the vrm/memory heatsinks and such. I may actually engineer my own water block for it. A friend of mine has some solid copper blocks and he is a machinist, so I might hire him to come up with something. He is a genius when it comes to that kind of thing.

I will pull the GTX 260 out and whenever I come across another good deal with a 460 I will grab that and run them in SLI. thumb.gif

I am curious to see some watercooled GTX460s if anyone wants to post a couple biggrin.gif

Personally with only 1gb of ram in sli your gonna have to turn your setting down even though you have plenty of GPU power. I would just use that single 460 till you can get something better.

also good place for cheap watercooling parts

Got my rad for my HTPC from there, still have yet to set it up though. standard shipping takes a good 2-3 weeks, fed-ex will get it to you in a few days.

Nice site, thanks. I will check them out. Right now I have a small radiator that is came with my H60 setup (think its the H60). Been running that on my CPU for over a year now. With my new setup I already got a northbridge, and cpu block made up (buddy made them for me). All out of copper and looks decent. I am going to make a reservoir out of PVC that will bolt to the back of my case, then all I need is a radiator for the cooling part.
