There's three things I find structurally interesting about the Z87-C:

1) ASUS is splitting its four VRMs into two banks of two with separate heat sinks (as opposed to Gigabyte's GA-Z87-D3HP which puts all four on the left side of the CPU socket).

2) Single-tier sideways-facing SATA ports. Bunk-bed style connectors for two SATA ports are quite common, but I can't recall ever seeing singles...

3) The old-school PCI ports are placed in a more sensible position. I can't imagine anyone needing two PCI cards having a dual-slot GPU, and not having a PCIe x1 slot covered by a dual-slot GPU is smart.

What then will be the big differences between the Hero and Formula? The Hero seems to be occupying a comparable product segment to the Formula.

Will it offer anything different when it comes out later? Or is it just too early to tell? Also - any word on how many months before the Formula comes out?
