It's our hope. More than 2.5 years after "Bobcat", AMD launch the successor of its successful low voltage architecture. The new APUs called "Kabini" and "Temash" are designed for notebooks as well as tablets. We review the A6-1450 quad core model.

Hey... Its better than Atom Clovertrail+ considerably and you can actually play Diablo 3 and Anno 2070. smile.gif

This is OCN. Expect some people to be disappointed when they notice the APU can't match an i7 and a 670/7950. And there's a handful people who consider such GPUs a "mid-range" class.

Agreed...

Where is a logic to them, i7 3770k plus GTX670 is 800-850$ right? So why expect that kind of a performance in an A6-1450 APU that costs like 60$ to produce >_>

"It doez not c0mp4re to zhe Titan, blbldsfkldjsjfldsfjvkxcmvkvx, pi3ce of garbage"

On a serious note, looks like they've done a great job, I just wish we could see some higher cpu frequencies, especially in docking mode.
Comparing it to Clovertrail+ is unfair because Clovertrail+ has much lower TDP, and in fact it can be used by smartphone unlike Temash

And no one is expecting it to perform like i7. If you look at benchmarks from the source, even 17w i3 completely destroy Temash. Though it not fair comparison since i3 has higher TDP

Looks like a decent step up from the ATOM/ION type stuff but really I would like to see more CPU grunt in thees cheap low power notebooks. Its not like you are really going to want to game on them anyway.

It's even funnier when those same people start saying about how AMD FX CPUs use more power than SB/IB, but completely ignore the fact that this uses bugger all power.

Bobcat was a winner and Temash looks to do the same thing.

TSMC's FAB 14 is 20nm and its ready so AMD could push or partially sacrifice production of Volcanic Island GPU's if they decide to produce "Beema" into 20nm to compete with Bay Trail Silvermont. If they do that and shrink "Beema" to 20nm and even put some improvements, then they can basically put Volcanic Islands GPU inside and a successor to A6-1450 would have a GPU comparable to HD4600 with lower TDP/power consumption likely.

Can you please put some sources, as I have never heard of such a processor anywhere else.

A quick Googling would have pointed you to the Fud article.
