[PlayStation Blog] Gran Turismo 6 Unveiled, Out This Holiday On PS3 - Page 12

Did they fix the horrible engine sounds yet?

That's all I want to know. It's not right when a V8 sounds like an rc car.

Well, since PS2 all of the face buttons on the PS2 and PS3 are pressure sensitive, so before I switched to a G25 wheel I used to prefer X and [] for gas and brake instead of the triggers or sticks. I actually got used to the pressure sensitivity of the face buttons and was able to apply throttle and brake at various pressures appropriately.

The X button on DS3 is analogue and you can control power with it. I found it very uncomfortable to hold the DS3 and use triggers for throttle/break.

Xbox 360 controller is fine, but PS3 controller feels uncomfortable.

Ahh yes Forza, come to PC please and thank you

I did find it weird how you could use the X and square buttons for acceleration and brake on the DS3 controller on GT5. They could have mapped those buttons for something else by default.

Glad I just got a computer - ps3 to ps4, xbox 360 to Xbox 720. Am I right in thinking that their old games will be redundant on the new consoles?

Happy for the new tech though.

At least computer games can be played on one format biggrin.gif

I think sim racing is too much of a niche market for a major developer to make the investment. Or it ends up like the GT series, which looks really nice for a PS3 game, has tons of cars but falls short when it comes to racing. Its fun to drive around Nordschleife with all the different cars but as far as racing goes? Just feels like a chore.

The reason why you don't see a handbrake offered with wheels is for the same reason; its just too niche. There are, however, a couple of very nice wheels currently on the market if you're looking for something that feels more realistic, but you've got to move past Logitech wheels and into something that costs quite a bit more money. Check out the Thrustmaster T500 RS and the Fanatec ClubSport Wheel. There's also the currently available Thrustmaster TH8RS and upcoming Fanatec ClubSport shifters.

I've tried both wheels; both very nice. For me, the Thrustmaster's immediate deal breaker was how the paddle shifters worked. They don't rotate with the wheel. I'm very pleased with the ClubSport Wheel though. Its the closest thing to a real racing steering wheel you can purchase for a video game without spending thousands of dollars.

Yea, sadly though those are all (even the G27) wayyyy too much money for me to warrant buying one right now. I appreciate a good product and design but I feel $200+ for something that probably (totally speculating) costs a fraction of its sale price to produce is ludicrous. I've seen Fanatec's mechanical shifter too and that looks AWESOME. http://us.fanatec.com/Shifters?product_id=681

What's the name of that Xbox exclusive that competes with the GT series? It's a racing sim as well but they should really port that to the PC.

IMO this is our best bet.

I haven't seen too much on it, but there isn't much for competition so I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed that it's good (not just good, but a good simulator).

I would go bonkers over Forza on PC, but it's never going to happen.

About all of them, actually.

Race07 is the only mildly pleasant to the sight. And that's stretching it a lot.

But hey, I don't care much about it. I want extremely realistic simulators with graphics decent enough to give me immersion.

And they all, more or less, fulfill that point.

don't forget about Assetto Corsa and rfactor 2. tongue.gif.

It looks like there'll be a GT6 demo released in July.
