GA 990fxa-ud3 rev3 Beep noise?

I am still new to overclocking and this may just be a common thing that happens once you do push your cpu over stock.

I overclocked my cpu to 4.4 and now every time i cold boot my computer decides to shut down and then powerback on then beep and continue its way to windows. Is this normal?

I also checked my other hardware and then set bios to default and the problem went away. So this only happens when i overclock the cpu through bios.

Any help will be appreciated thank you.

so i experimented a little and just went into my bios and set everything to stock settings manually without a overclock setting. And when i turn the system on a cold boot it still does the turn off then on beep into windows.

So any changes in to bios seems to trigger this it seems.

Im guessing maybe the bios changes have to change or save over every cold boot into windows???

it will restart after you exit the bios after changes are made or not. But yes it does apply the changes upon exiting the bios and does do a restart.

now if it is doing a restart every time you start computer WITHOUT you entering bios then that would be something it shouldnt be doing.

im not sure if it is restarting upon a system start. I just know that when i start the machine cold boot it does shut down and then start up and then 1 short beep into windows. Everything works fine im just concerned about this because it didnt beep before.

This does not happen when i simply restart the computer only on a cold boot

it likely means your overclock is not stable enough. if it's booting to windows after a single beep and boot you should be fine

i tested the oc with prime 95 and monitor temps with cupid hw monitor and speed fan. And it is stable from what i can see in windows. Just the damn beep. ITs really odd .

And as stated above i put everyting to stock manually and it came up with the same beep noise.

But if i set the bios to optimized defaults it goes away
