DDC "Pump it up" or not.

Thread Starter

I got a single ddc1t pump with a stock top. I there a preferable way to mount it, direction wise? I know you can't mount it with the barbs facing down or upside down, and that any other way is acceptable, but which is the best and why? Like is one way more noisy than the other, more flow, chance of leaking and so on?

Just position it to give the best look and the best tube routing.

I would prefer first position.

Since you now have a Laing DDC-1T (aka MCP350) pump, you can download the manual that is found half way down the page here ...

And your question about more flow, check out this page for ideas with a retail performance top or google Petra DDC top for the CAD data to CNC your own.

Ya, I got the manual already. Thanks for the pump by the way. I just picked up my rad today and now i have to wait for Newegg to send new TIM, the last tube I ordered got lost in mail, or go pick up some AS5 from Radio Shack. I was thinking of getting this, for looks.http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_439_775&products_id=30670 . I'll probably mount it, decoupled of course, with the inlet up top. Do the pumps really introduce a significant amount of heat into the loop. I was going to use some aluminum heatsinks I had on the bottom, but I'm not quite sure that would be a good idea or not. Anyways thanks for the input!

That top is interesting. It may enhance noise from the pump due to it's mass and weight.

As for heat, the DDC-1T runs at 12VDC@10W. It's the cooler of all the Laing DDC series pumps. If you add a performance top to increase the flow, the heat load does not increase. A double plus benefit over the DDC-3x edition.

Look at a few of the add-on tops from my page. The list isn't "every" DDC top on the market, but it grows as I get feedback from others.

Martin of Martin's Lab has a bit of info for the DDC tops. Read a few topics on his testing lab blog for insight. thumb.gif
