Could a new motherboard and/or CPU be the cause of a lot of minor problems?

Here lately I have been running into a lot of small problems. Weird 2d and 3d issues that I never had before (Anyone else with a HD 7870 having issues with Firefox?). My sound card drivers (X-Fi Titanium) have been buggy and unresponsive. Which has been leading to a lot of restarts. Motherboard I am on now is an MSI Big Bang Fuzion, CPU is an i7 870. For various reasons I have had several OS installs on this board and the issues are pretty much consistent to my best ability to recall.

Now the setup I came from was an i5 750 on an eVGA p55 SLI FTW, which after a whole six months and several component (GPUs, Sound Cards, nVidia to ATI, etc) remained rock solid without too much drama even when I'd leave it on for a week without restarting it. I am at the point now where I have exhausted every other option. It is highly unlikely that the CPU is the source of the majority of my issues, so its very likely that the motherboard is the culprit. However, that said, I did run the i7 870 in the eVGA board for a bit with a fresh install, and that is when the problems began.

If its not the motherboard, could it be the .iso I use as my windows install? I lost the one I had so I had to redo my image file to put onto my USB stick. ( I hate DVD installations)
