Hi all,

I thought I had finally decided on a monitor but then this Acer came up on sale for £185 and now I'm torn between the two. I love the look of the Asus and also the fact its an IPS and will more than likely have a lot better picture quality, however the Acer is a 120 Hz 3D monitor which is really appealing. I know its mostly personal preference, but really I was just want opinions about the two and anyone with any experience with them?

Currently mainly into FPS games like bioshock, Crysis, BF3 but do also play a lot of games like Elderscrolls. I will watch a few movies here and there but nothing crazy.

Any info would be great.

Oh and also the Acer comes with a pair of the Nvidia 3D glasses (no emitter though)

If you're reffering this Acer monitor ; https://pcpartpicker.com/part/acer-monitor-umug5aa001.

I'd go for the Asus one : because this one has IPS (acer does not) , and built in speaker if youre interested in that.
The Acer one it's viewing angels are a lil bit wider, but it does not have IPS, the asus one does, which is why it doesn't matter.
And the Acer one's brighness is a lil bit better, but u won't notice the diffrence tongue.gif

So as i said, i'd go for the Asus one.
Info is according to PCpartpicker, i'm not responsible if they listed the wrong specs, which i had before, this is why i'm saying this xD

Greeting.

Thanks for the input. I know that the ASUS has an IPS panel and built in speaker (not to bothered about the speaker) but the Asus is only 60 Hz and not 3D ready. What I really want to know is wether or not 120Hz is really worth it and also what 3D gaming is like.

Also why would the Acer have better brightness? Is LED backlight worse than LCD?

Thanks again for your comments.

EDIT - just saw the link you posted, thats not the right monitor biggrin.gif

Oh lol sorry, was comparing with the link, and the link is also LED tongue.gif
And idd, Asus one only has 60 HZ , but 120 is not that important to be looked after, you can't tell the diffrence between 60 and 120 with the naked eye.
And 3D gameplay, have not done it myself, because i find it's not worth it, heard people that it's a cool thing to have, but not all games fir 3D gaming, they also say that it can develop quite the headaches when u play in 3D for the first months, 3D gaming has it's own camera distance, depth etc .. so when you change to a normal game again , you will be a bit, let's say confused because it's a whole other experience you're looking at.

Edit : i just saw your link xD it's a good monitor, really is.
It just depends on what you want, 3d or not tongue.gif
