Max Payne 3 is a bargain bin corridor shooter with pretty graphics. GTA V running smoothly on PC with the same level of graphical fidelity as MP3 is probably a pipe dream.

You can also swap between characters during missions, allowing you to change position to get a better angle while the AI controls the other characters. If you're pinned down as Michael you could switch to Franklin to flank the enemies, and if you're being attacked by a group in the distance you could swap to Trevor, ready on the roof with a sniper rifle.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quote:
First, Michael had to block the road with a car, forcing the passing armored car to stop in the road. Next, the player jumped to Franklin, and rammed into the armored car, causing it to flip off the road. The guards hit the panic button, leading to the cops flooding the scene, and after a long shootout the trio went their separate ways, stashing some vehicles, blowing others up, and making it out with a ton of money. Everything worked together well, and we're pumped to try our hand at planning a heist of our own.

I spent hours hunting armored cars in GTA IV, C4, shot and rob, run like hell

edit:
Quote:
You can upgrade your weapons, adding new parts to them in order to find the gun that perfectly suits the character (or the heist, if you're planning for the future). Pay 'n' Sprays have been upgraded as well, allowing you to change your cars when you stop by. You'll also be able to buy and upgrade buildings and businesses, creating an ecosystem where it's actually worth making money. Want a helicopter? Good--buy a helipad first. What, you were going to land it on the street? Were you raised in a barn?

finally we can buy property, this should help with saving near locations we actually want to be in vs GTA IV.

Trevor looks like a 40 year old version of Nathan Barnett. I'm never going to be able to take this game seriously.

If it does not get released on PC there will be a thousand horses' heads in somebody's bed.

Rockstar is so good at character development, and this looks like no disappointment. I'm actually really excited for this to come out.

Same thing happened with GTA IV. We got a PC release.

I wish people would stop thinking that GTA not being launched on PC is anything but Rockstar knowing a few people (Such as myself) end up buying the game 2+ times, one for console and one for PC but likely wouldn't if it was on PC to begin with.

GTA III ran like garbage, GTA VC ran better and GTA SA ran much better at launch...RAGE needed to be matured up a bit.

They can, RAGE was immature at the time of IVs release and stuff they learnt from IV and in the time between IV and MP3 to learn for PC ports...Hell, even on consoles GTA IV didn't run amazingly.

Honestly at this point it's more annoying than the Windows 8 threads...I've heard it every time a 3D GTA has launched, both "I hope it runs better than GTA III/IV!" and "I hope they release a PC version!"

You can get BSODs from any program, even a hello world one, if your system isn't 100% stable...A quick google search for "LA Noire BSOD" shows that virtually all the results I got were either due to nVidia drivers, or on multiple games.

  • GTA 3 = PS2 exclusive, PC version "in mind"
  • GTA Vice City = PS2 exclusive, PC version "in mind"
  • GTA San Andreas = PS2 exclusive, PC version "in mind"
  • GTA IV = PS3 exclusive (console exclusive shortly after the second trailer was released), PC version "in mind"
  • GTA The Lost and Damned = 360 exclusive, PS3 and PC version "in mind"
  • GTA The Ballad of Gay Tony = 360 exclusive, PS3 and PC version "in mind"
  • GTA V = Console exclusive, PC version "in mind"

They have done this with every major GTA release to try and get more money, and it works every time. Many PC gamers end up getting it on console because they think it won't come to PC (just like right now with GTA V) then a few months after the console release Rockstar announces they are making a PC version. Then the PC gamers end up buying it twice.
GTA IV ran terribly because it was the first time they used the RAGE engine (their in-house engine) properly (unless you want to include "Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis"). Looks at Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3.

And before anyone says "Red Dead Redemption isn't as dense as GTA game" or "Max Payne 3 doesn't have much in it" it doesn't really matter, it proves Rockstar are working on the engine to make it better. GTA V should run a lot better than GTA IV.

Look at GTA 3. To run it properly you would need at least a Pentium 4 and nVidia 4400. With Vice City you could get similar performance out of a high-end Pentium 3 and nVidia 4200

This. You can tell which people either have very short term memories or only became fans after SA/IV. I've been a fan since III came out and have been a member of GTAForums since 2004, lurking since 2002...I've seen and heard this so many times that I have it down to a process now. Buy it on console, finish the story, etc then before the PC Release, play other games for a few months then get PC release, finish it and wait for the mods.

That is one of the dumbest things I've read about Max Payne 3; thank goodness it's only your opinion.

Max Payne 3 has the best shooting mechanics of any game, period. The amount of detail in the gameplay and graphics for the shooting mechanics in MP3 is unparalleled IMO. If GTA V has the shooting mechanics of MP3, I'll be playing GTA V for years to come. I still play Max Payne 3 on a regular basis (Arcade mode) just because it's so much fun doing the shoot dodge with the various guns. The cover system is great and the AI is pretty damn good too. Further, it's not a 'corridor shooter'. It's a linear story, yes but the setting in each chapter is quite varied and there is some variety. Of course, it's not like RDR or GTA, but it's most definitely not as boring as you imply.

In other words, I LOVE Max Payne 3. Imagine an open world like GTA with the mechanics of MP3? biggrin.gif
