[ pcgh ] Metro Last Light : Patch brings up to 58 percent higher FPS with Radeon - Page 3

Increasing the FOV made Artyom's arms look funny. Had to set it back to default.

SSAA is Demanding on my CPU it seems. 60fps with ease with it off. around 55% GPU usage each.

with SSAA on 2x , I get 35-45 fps with around 65% gpu usage on each. frown.gif

From Steam patch notes: http://steamcommunity.com/app/43160/discussions/0/810924774395015649/

In addition, you can now customize the FOV this way:

After starting the game up, the user.cfg will be updated with the r_base_fov attribute. You can find this in %LOCALAPPDATA%\4A Games\Metro LL\. Tweak it at your leisure!

Thank you very much, no matter what I change the setting to it wont change the FoV though, oh well worth a try~ worriedsmiley.gif
I still have to finish metro2033, but knowing I can run this smoothly is just more reason to!thumb.gif

This patch is great, my 7950 is now kicking ass on the old 13.2 Beta drivers. Before patch when looking at the light in the hallway I would get 20-25fps. After patch when looking at the light im getting 75-80fps.

Everywhere else im in the 100's wheee.gif

Is that how SSAA is supposed to be, harder on the CPU? Or is it an AMD thing? I always have a much higher load on my GPU when increasing SSAA, which is what I thought was always the case. Or is it just in Metro?

Is there any FOV settings that do work for you, or haven't you found any yet? I heard about all of the issues 4A said that increasing it would cause, but there's so many other games out there that it works completely fine in. Guess they didn't plan on it from the start because they figured the game would be so demanding as it is, without increasing the FOV, and then saw how many people wanted the option. Hopefully after spending some time on it it should have proper support somewhere down the line.

Will be starting the game hopefully tomorrow night. Really excited, so, sorry to bug you about it, but reading about the game is all I have to hold me over at the moment ^_^

Wow this patch made a huge difference. Damn near doubled my fps, from about 25 on highest settings w/ 2xsmaa to about 45-50 on average. No more shadows and lights flickering, fog isnt all distorted, and even the sound seems to be in sync now. Not bad for only waiting 2 days. Very impressed. thumb.gif
Oh and raising the FOV was a nice addition too.

i quite honestly only tried switching it to 65. Once I seen his arms looking funny I went straight back to default. Not sure if it has to do with my resolution or not (1440p) but it doesn't bother me at all.
