In 2012, AMD began shipping its mobile line-up of Radeon HD 8000M-series just in time for the arrival of 2013. AMD unveiled today the latest addition to that mobile GPU family, its upcoming series of Radeon HD 8900M chips.

Are you going to post every new revision of every retail laptop and desktop that comes out with an AMD component in it?  That's not news.....

Revision? Its not a revision, its new laptop...

GX60 Hitman Edition is revision, GX70 3BE is successor.

I like reading about new product launches when they have something high end in them. That it's also reasonably priced is very welcome. It might not be interesting to you personally, but a new product launch is news.

Hmm... 8970M and a Richland CPU, could turn out ok I guess, still kinda worried the CPU part will drag it down in certain games, same as the GX60 with the Trinity CPU. Most newer games will probably run just fine tho! thumb.gif

Complete with last years graphics! Yes! (HD7970M refresh FTL) I am seriously getting tired of all this refreshing on both AMD and Nvidia, zero innovation.

50mhz higher than the an HD7970M

8970M is a bit stronger by 7970M expect it has a newer revision of GCN architecture thus lower power consumption. Remember 7790 newer GCN chip, same improvements implemented into 8970M...

Thanks....for the laugh. laugher.gif It's funny how so many people don't read up on new "tech".

He thought the 7990 could play 6 games at once....He can regurgitate...but that's it

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/AMD-Radeon-8970M-MSI-GX70,22576.html

Quote:

The card will pack 2 GB of GDDR5 memory that runs at an effective speed of 4.8 GHz over a 256-bit memory interface. The HD 8970M is simply a rebrand of the original HD 7970M. The only difference appears to be the added Boost technology, which brings the maximum stock clock speed up to 900 MHz.

And AMD's marketing slides? hahah don't even get me started

Comparing the 8970m equiped with the LATEST beta driver vs the 680m with driver 307.17 from early january.  Then they go as far as to compair and market the differences in performance in games like Crysis 3, BioshockI, and TombRaider, games that came out way after Nvidia's 307.17 driver......(then Vampirr sucks those right up for breakfast)

Let's continue to compare it to the 680m though while the 780m is just around the cornre, AFAIK, it's a full desktop 680gpu, just downclocked.
