AMD will be launching a total of 5 APUs and all of them will use FM2 socket. Leading the pack is the A10-6800K; it has four cores and Radeon HD 8670D graphics chip. The cores have a maximum clock of 4.4 GHz and it’ll be priced at $142. Following it closely is the A10-6700; it is also a quad core model but with locked multiplier limiting its overclocking ability. Its maximum clock is 4.3 GHz and it’ll cost $122.

Why? Because you buy an i7 when you want balanced CPU and iGPU performance?

The i7 and the A10 are shooting for two totally different markets.

I'm super excited for Richland. I'm ready to build an HTPC for my projector setup.

They compare price and performance, there are no leaked benchmarks involving Iris/Iris Pro and they are BGA so it does not count since they are not LGA.

IF the prices and performance specs match up, those A10s will be a disgustingly good deal.

Wait, you can actually play games at medium-high settings on an i7's IGP with at least 30 FPS?

Indeed there are such i7s. They're called Nehalem. Don't try to run games using Swiftshader though.

They all are under $200 CPUs. Why do you think they need to compare them to $330 i7 ? rolleyes.gif
Also they are 4 cores vs 4 cores, why to compare them to 4 cores vs 4 cores / 8 threads ?

CPU wise that comparison is ok. But APU/iGPU wise you may compare it to i7's HD 4000.
