From what I gathered in your last few posts, I think you should wait for Titans to start hitting the marketplace, I bet you'll be able to grab one for around $800.

That is what I plan to do unless someone totally wows me with an unbelievable price. biggrin.gif Just doing as much research as I can right now and hopefully I will find out how long if at all, for card makers to make a higher VRAM version. I am personally willing to pay as much as a used Titan, but willing to settle for as "little" as a 680GTX 4GB if I feel like it will be enough. I do not however want to be in the position again where I cheaped out and bought the 1.5MB 580GTX and ran into memory issues before GPU issues. frown.gif

Gosh I wonder how you were ever able to stand that video card...

After 20-30 minutes of playing Skyrim before CTD's due to insufficient VRAM, I decided I couldn't. tongue.gif When I originally got it and before games got hungry for memory, it was a great card though. What annoys me was my personal decision of cheaping out for the 1.5GB version instead of the 3GB as I was considering one or the other. In this case, I made the wrong choice in hindsight.

EDIT: Just noticed I had MB and you were talking about that. Jokes on me for that one! tongue.gif

I am pretty sure that if you go with a 680 4GB, you will lack GPU power before memory issues make sense?

The 680 4GB here has higher clocks, otherwise, they would've delivered identical performance.

Granted, this review is a year old, so you should look into it further with more recent drivers and games. wink.gif

No, it's not bad... it's completely irrelevant and unimportant.

...right, definitely reference - they'll probably keep custom PCB design for 'Direct CU ii' ...the 1112 looks like GPU speed to me though, but can't be certain (I have ""fought"" with GPU Tweak a lot before I finally relented and put PrecisionX on smile.gif ) ...but we will all know for sure IN A WEEK ? (May 23rd being the release date given).

What isn't clear yet from any 780 threads I have seen is 'how far' custom PCBs designs will go re VRM phases etc...6+8 pin power connectors would be nice biggrin.gif

That also worries me, hence me considering Titan to begin with. I usually don't buy the highest end card available, but the memory availability puts me in a more awkward position this time around.

It's voltage, and it's just a stock photo that has nothing to do with the 780 smile.gif, look here: http://videocardz.com/images/2013/05/ASUS-GeForce-GTX-780.jpg nice and clear/high-res. The exact same picture was on the 680 box as well.

I do hope for a nice power phase setup... the 770 purportedly will have a 5+2 setup, which would be better than the reference 680's.

...I think you may be right - I was thinking about the '5 bar / slider' GPU Tweaks - and may be wishful thinking on my part that they'll have a 'Top' version that clocks at 1137 biggrin.gif
