Got Titan just because it was the new guy on the block, not much in the way of an alternative. But since the 780 is also GK110, just with less VRAM (6GB I do not need anyways) and one cluster's less worth of cores, then ~10% less performance for the money I'd save would be worth it.

I've enjoyed Titan for a good couple months. I've gotten my money's worth even if I take a small hit selling it. Even if I only get $800 for it, two 780's would cost me ~$1200, that's a net cost of $400. If I want to SLI Titans, it'll cost me about $1,000. So...2 780's for $400 or 2 Titans for $1,000, at least in my situation. I may go the 780 way...

Ill take your titan for 800.00 if the 780 is not 5gb ram lol

EVGA posted this video earlier so maybe we will be seeing non-reference coolers/heatsinks on them

If they priced the 3gb models at $500 and the 6gb at $600+ id just grab the 3gb. I really don't see the need for more.

Anyways...this is my next card. Sold one Titan to work on a side-project, so, have to update my sig rig. But yeah, thinking about selling my Titan and getting 2 780's.
I hit 4gb in Far Cry 3 Ultra 8xMSAA 5760x1080. A couple guys are already maxing out Titans VRAM in Crysis 3 7680x1600. Warning: pic (Click to show)

eek.gif That is one crazy res! Well, I'm sure that very very small group of people in this world enjoy the 6GBs. And I am glad for those that are running that res and really did need all of Titan's 6GBs. But for the rest of us...I can't see paying the price premium for Titan on lower res's when there's a very-nearby-performance-wise alternative. I just mean if the 780 and Titan end up having a ~$400 price difference, I don't see many going with Titan just for the extra VRAM. Nor for a ~10% performance difference, for that matter.

Several people have shown that Crysis 3 in 1440P surround maxxes out the 6GB frame buffer. I myself can go over 4GB if I want to. I just think for future proofing 4GB would have been better for this card. But GTX Titan will always be there for the surround users and the GTX 780 for sngle screen users that dont need that extra bit of RAM and performance.

Nice find.

I guess we will see non-reference coolers on the GTX 700 series then.

If there's a 6GB card in the works, then it most likely has a 384 bit memory bus. If it's just a GK110 with a 384 bit memory bus, it would be a fairly significant improvement over the 680.

Correct me if I am wrong but the 690's 4gb of memory is additive. The same as having 2-2gb cards.

A 690 has 2 gb of usable memory. Each 680 chip only sees 2gb essentially. They buffer separate frames and don't share between the two.
