Intel i5 2500k for $145.00. good or bad?

my friend has an i5 2500k he used for about 1 month, never overclocked and hardly used, he is willing to sell me it for $145.00, i have an evga z77 motherboard, is this a good deal or no? and i plan on overclocking and so far everyone hates overclocking on the i5 3570k it seems.

by the way i'm new here smile.gif.

This chip is the last of the soldered IHS and is one of the best cpu's you could buy for a long time, I personally feel it is better than ivy due to temps, and while overclocked can get you amazing performance for the money, At 145 dollars go for it, good deal. I would look elsewhere like ebay or even newegg and see what a new one and used one goes for. Sounds like a good deal though.

It's a good deal. The i5 2500K is a really good overclocker depending on your cooling solution.

He just brought up a good point if its worth it or not we don't know your current system, you could now be bottlenecking your gpu with this upgrade.
