New to Folding

Hey guys I'm pretty new to the folding community and I have been folding for a little while solo but was curious about teams and how teams work. I like the community that revolves around folding and what the goal of folding is so I figured if I am going to get into it I might as well jump in! Thanks for any help and guidance.

Do you mean teams as in those for the Team Competition here on OCN??

Well probably not any competition folding at the moment but general teams if there are any that have some casual folders. Not sure if there are any really or if that's not exactly how it works.

Well folding for team 37726 which is the whole of OCN can be as casual as you'd like it to be.

Basically the Team Competition is for people who are going to dedicate a piece of their hardware to at least 20 hours of folding per day, there are two main divisions, Div 1 and Div 2, Div 1 have the highest performing teams, Div 2 the lesser performing teams. If your team is doing poorly that month and you are at the bottom of Div 1, and a top-end Div 2 team has more points than you, then you will be demoted to Div 2 and they will be promoted to Div 1.

You can find more about the OCN TC here.

You can sign up for the OCN TC here.

And as Juano said, if you'd like to just fold and contribute to OCN's total points, then you can just set the folding team name to 37726.

Stanford has made the option to fold for a particular team/community if you so wish; for instance, OCN has a folding team, to join the team simply add the team number (37726) in the client configuration and any points you produce will count towards your and the teams totals.

We as community, as already mentioned, also have the team competition thats runs monthly, these are just OCN sub-teams that compete amongst themselves to produce the most points, you still fold for OCN as a whole and all points still count toward the teams and your folding stats.

We as a team have various events throughout the year like the monthly foldathons that are 2-day events, the Chimp Challenge which is a major event amongst the top teams in the world, and the Forum Folding War which is a week long event amongst OCN's folding team members.

You can fold as much or as little as you want, everything else pretty much is just there to make it more interesting thumb.gif

Awesome that answered my questions and others I had as well thanks! I think for now I'll use the team number you guys mentioned above until I'm a bit more comfortable with the dynamics and want ot invest more time and energy into it. Thanks again!
