cpu upgrade soon

Thread Starter
yep, so i want to go dualcore, and currently i am looking at the amd 4400+ x2 for 939.....

is it worth it? i've heard a lot of complains and it bottlenecks?
should i save up and go for an am2 cpu/mobo/ram?
or get an opty? they seem a bit pricy but i can afford it.

i will overclock and run my 3700+ for another 2-3 months, and then upgrade, once i am done saving up for a good cpu

The X2 4400+ Is a nice CPU. When it comes to Bottlenecks i can gaurentee you that All CPU'S Bottleneck. Not just this one.

However The Opterons are generally alot more stable than the X2 cpu's especially in an Overclock due to its architecture,

AM2 Is good for future upgradeability but 939 is still just fine.

how would the opty perform with games? so are you saying that opty is more stable of a cpu then x2?
The Opteron Cpu;s such as the Opteron Dual cores perform great in games

You will be more than happy with the x2 4400 but I'd rather get an opty dual core. Thata just my opinion though.

Yeh opty is more stable because it is based on a server chip. Should handle games well seeing as its more stable.

just get the opty 165. its bar none AMD's best processor right now for s939.

but you can't wait much longer because AMD won't be making them. they are already flying off of the shelves.
