back-up installed programs?

Hey folks

Here is my issue, I need to format my computer to do a fresh install of my windows.

The problem is, I have a installed program that I need on my new windows, but the CD is broken and the program cannot be found online.

Is there any way of backing up the program and transferring it to the new windows? so i can use it just like I used it before.

Thanks

Depends on the program. Some interact with the registry so you may have to backup parts of your registry.

A quick test would be to copy the program's folder in your Program Files folder and try launch it from another computer that the program isn't installed on. If that works, just backup that folder and you're all set.
