TheTahiti LE is a 1536 Stream Processor GPU used in some 7870s

The Tahiti Pro is the 1792 Stream Processor GPU used in the 7950s

The Tahiti XT is the 2048 Stream Processor GPU in the 7970s

The Tahiti XT2 is the 2048 Stream Processor GPU in the 7970 GHz Editions(same as XT just designated as XT2 in video card bios)

The 7 series will drive down prices. The current 670 will be a 770 ti at the 299 price point

The 770 is a rebadged 680.. And since we all know that 670s and 680s are almost the same performance wise, and that it's quite easy for a good clocking 670 to beat a 680, I dont see any reasons why one would be interested to wait for the 700 series.

PLaying a few levels of the campaign I could play BF3 maxed out with a i5 3570k at 4.2 Ghz with a 7870XT at 1080p without a hitch.

OP the Sapphire HD 7870 XT uses Tahiti LE chip. 1536 sp at 975 mhz vs 1280 sp at 1000 mhz on HD 7870 Pitcairn. Tahiti LE has 256 bit memory at 6 Ghz vs 256 bit memory at 5 Ghz on HD 7870 Pitcairn. at stock performs on par with HD 7950(800 mhz) and GTX 660 Ti. when overclocked to 1.2 Ghz matches HD 7970 (925 Mhz).

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11199-20-20G-CrossFireX-Multi-GPU-Technology/dp/B00AX2ONI0/

amazon has the card for 185 pounds. but you need to check if you will get the game bundle from amazon. you can find a lot of info about this card in this thread

http://www.overclock.net/t/1373543/official-7870-tahiti-le-xt-owners-club

this card has outstanding price perf. go for it. thumb.gif

Having had the fastest 7870 on this forum i speak from experience. Yeah it was a great card but it wasnt as smooth as my current 660 is especially in BF3 and Crysis 3. I looked through the valley thread and there are maybe 5 660 submissions with owners using an E7400 to a 955. No high end hardware. Let me buy my 3770K tomorrow and i'll add to that submission list. Right now im tied for the 2nd fastest 660 in valley and i havent even overclocked the card yet.

Whoever said that 660 and 660 ti are better than 7870xt, do you homework again.

7870xt is clearly better than both cards that's why many people define the card as 7930 because its performance is closer to the 7950.

7870xt certainly one of the best bang for buck gpus beside 650ti boost and 7850.

I would get 2 7870xt and xfire them if I don't like the price of the upcoming 780 because 2 of them can easily beat a single 780 that will cost you more.

Don't blame the CPU. Both GTX 660 and HD 7870 have setups with weak CPUs.

You can also refer to my second graphs and see only the top 3 scores.

It is such a small margin though that is not worth debating over. Just get your favorite brand and/or the cheapest. wink.gif
