Freaking hate microcenter. They brought back the 40 dollar motherboard discount with 3770K's and now im itching to spend.

3770K/Extreme6 Combo at MC is 370.98
4770K/Extreme6 Combo will be 529.99 Give or take at launch.

Best route to go? Wait or spend? Maybe grab the 3770K now and when the 4770K drops down at MC grab it for 260?

probably wiser to wait and see the reviews and benchmarks

then decide whether to get the 4770k or the 3770k for cheaper tongue.gif

id probably go for the 4770k route though since its a newer socket (???)

Haswell will be 5-7% better then Ivy. Real question is 5-7% better for 159 more dollars?

Hell no, just get a Ivy Bridge i7 now, you're not going to notice a difference and it's $150+ back in your bucket that you could use for more important things, perhaps the Steam Summer Sale! tongue.gif

I'm going out and buying a i5-3570K and a Gigabyte G.1 Sniper M3 later, I have no regrets! thumb.gif

I would agree. Just get the ivy.The increase for haswell is not worth the price increase at all.

No reason to wait for Haswell unless you're going to use integrated graphics. If you're using a discreet video card, it's not going to be any more than 5-7% faster.

Personally, I'd give the industry 3-4 months on Socket 1150 before making a Haswell purchase to get the BIOS kinks worked out, ESPECIALLY if you're looking at an ASRock board. Not the best at 1.0 BIOS attempts.

What's funny is I was having a discussion with my elderly Dad the other day, and telling him the $1100 I cajoled him into spending on his 2600K Gigabyte H67A platform over 2 years ago is only about 20% slower than the 4770K that hasn't even been released yet. He was rather pleased.

Will they stop selling z77 motherbords like the p8z77-i deluxe when z87 comes out same with ivy bridge cpu?

Sorry for thread jack

I wouldn't expect major manufacturers to completely drop the Z77 for quite some time.

You can still find some relatively new Z68 boards for sale today, even though the Z77 has been out for quite a while.
