Computer decide it was on strike and have to build cheap decent on fast, need some advice.

Hi, my Computer in sig decide it was tired of working and decide it was time to sip fruity drinks forever. And right now isnt the best time, RL is deciding it has to be a bucking bronco right now. So i need a replacement fast and cheap but decent. I play alot of games and listen to music while doing it, I play anything from WoW, EQ2 to Skyrim. I also watch movies from Netflix and other streaming sites. Its more of a enterantment computer. So I figure I would get a new MB, CPU and Ram and reuse everything else it all works. so I need to know which way should I go, I5 or I7, and which chip do u suggest? I like to OC but with this being a cheap one, its a not a have to have as long as its speed is good enough to handle what i do. I am going to move to a Asus MB, and a good speed ram (about 8g).

Thnk you for your time and help.

either wait a couple of weeks for haswell or get a I5-3570k and a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H

wait you want an asus board then maybe look at the Asus P8Z77-V

Nah, as with 1155, the 1150 will still be dual channel.

The 3570k is unlocked which means it has an unlocked multiplier (it also has better integrated graphics if you care), this will allow you to overclock to the max generally, I.E my 3570k can do 4.6GHz whereas if I had have bought a 3570 it could only do 3.3GHz.

Speaking of the regular 3570, yeah it's "locked" and so it's basically set at stock for its life.

3570s are binned chips which are also locked, but they are generally better for ITX buids etc as they use less power and less heat (they also come clocked lower too).

From looking at your rig the 3570k is right for you, but honestly I'd grab a 3770k as you already have an i7 (Hyper-Threading) and the 3770k's are binned quite a bit better which in turn usually means they overclock more/better.

The resale value of your PC will also be higher thumb.gif

what kind of increase are we going to see from the haswell vs a 3770k? I mean one is 1155 the other is 1150? is there that much difference? The reason I ask, is this computer I am looking at is just a temp on for me, I will be giving it to the kids anyways later down the road. When RL smooths out I will be building a dream build again something like what is down in sig, a lot of the line over the top type. So is it reallty worth waiting?

Edit: was also looking at this MB: ASUS P8Z77-V LK LGA 1155 Intel Z77 with this ram G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 . is that a bad temp computer to carry me for about 6 months or so.
