That's what I've seen. A lot of my friends or friends friends said that they loved the game, but hated the ending. I don't even think they bothered checking it out with DLC enabled they hated it so much. Then again, they do play games as if it's a 'one-and-done' deal. I'm not exactly what they all did.

just finished a mass effect playthrough (huge fan) with the newer Omega and Citadel DLC's (have all the other ones)

I 100% recommend playing through WITH DLC's. All of them except Citadel are side-missions - if you play through them seperately, they feel like short, mostly empty missions. Plus they add weapons and weapon mods that flesh out the selection/customization for the whole game

Just finished Citadel - best DLC for any game...EVAR

oh...and ending still sucks. ugh I forgot how much I hated it

Ending is much better with the DLC than without smile.gif Yeah, it's a kick in the nuts but.. That's the way it is smile.gif You can make yourself see it as a good thing - the game is so realistic, it's normal that the end sucks because in real life sometimes endings suck smile.gif Anyway, enough daydreaming.

For the first playthrough, I highly recommend *at least* the fixed ending DLC. IMO all the other ones should also be enabled, but that's up to the player to decide smile.gif

the part that reminds me the most about how bad it is, is the "extraction" at the end....completely out of nowhere and doesn't fit the whole theme/motto that was foreshadowed throughout the final few minutes and discussions with squad mates
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
as in, why the **** does the normandy break off from sword fleet, instantly appears in the earth atmosphere, just to extract an injured squadmate? what happened to the "do or die" attitude that they hammered for the past 30 minutes? and of course, it goes all downhill from there

the indoctrination theory even makes more sense to explain the **** that happens, even after EC explained things

I just picked up the trilogy at GameStop today, and I was wondering what you guys had to say about the game (no spoilers) and if you had any tips for me. I may not be running blind right now, but I will be soon. I've picked the Soldier so I can use more than 2 weapons -.- since I got tired of being stuck with the shotgun and pistol on the save I had on my XBox. I'm leveling up pretty randomly, but I have no clue if I'm going to screw myself over with this. I'm also recording this and putting it up on YT... but I'm having a small problem with rendering (I know how to fix this).

Just let me know how you guys felt about the game(s), but keep the spoilers out.
If you are talking about talent points, they aren't too huge until you get into intimidate / charm. Pick one for how you want to grow your Shepard.

Mass Effect 1 aged really really poorly. The story might be a bit slow until you get to Virmire, and then it gets amazing. Soldier is the best choice for ME1 IMO. I tried Adept and... yeah not fun. Good thing is, that even if you import your Shepard into ME2/3, you can change your class before each game.

Mass Effect 2 is probably the best game I've ever played as far as story. They did a great job of making me love/hate some squad members. I played Mass Effect 2, and right after beating it I bought the first one and played through it.

Mass Effect 3, despite what people say about the ending is good. I liked the ending. I did have some issues with it, but for the outcry of how bad it was, I was quite satisfied.

Amazing video game trilogy. Don't let the people the people that complain about the ending turn you away like it did for me.

The same way the Normandy snuck into terminus systems in the first game, and it explains it in the first 5 minutes of the first game.
