Worth selling 1 month old 670?

Hello everyone,

I bought an asus 670 dc2 april the 14th for 380 euro and been enjoying the card quite a bit, runs everything very smooth at ultra. Haven't tried crysis 3 though. I tried to overclock it as high as possible and 1220mhz core seems the highest I can get it at in unigine Valley 1.0 and 1800mhz memory. This nets me 1951 points in valley at extreme hd. I guess this is good but I wish I could get higher just for the sake of it tongue.gif

I have an offer on this card right now of 320 euro shipped. Should I do it?

That makes around 70 euro loss in a month but with my exams coming up I better not be gaming in the next month anyway. And with the 700 series I guess overal gpu prices will go down. I might pick up a 7950 or 7970 this summer with some sweet games included and stay around or above 670 performance levels, or I might buy a new 670 for around 300 by then and it might overclock higher than my card now with a little bit of luck. Or I'll buy the 770/780.

Suggestions are welcome.

If you intend to buy an AMD card later, you'll get the 70 Euros back through the free games so it's a free sidegrade or upgrade, depending on the GPUs that will be available. You can't really lose in that situation so I'd do it if that's the only way to keep you from gaming! ^^

It might actually be the only way to stop me from gaming. Will there be other never settle bundels available this summer as I already have bioshock infinite and far cry 3 blood dragon(amazing games btw). But the intel hd4000 holds up pretty amazingly in indie games so I might have to find a way to burn the iGPU out of my 3570k to keep me from failing my exams tongue.gif

have you modded the BIOS on your current GTX 670.?
you can unlock the voltage and raise your clocks to the high 12's and some hitting 1300's on average.
I run SLi 670's in Surround and will not be upgrading those to the GTX 7 series.

just another suggestion.. smile.gif

I'm actually in a similar dilemma to you, contemplating selling my 670 to either side grade to a 7950/7970 or put it towards a 780. IMO, if you're only going to be gaming at 1080p, I'd sell the 670 and pick up a 7950 or 7970 (depending on whether you want to save more money or get a performance boost). Free games are always nice biggrin.gif

actually if your @ 1080p and really want to save up some money then you can go lower and still game.
GTX 660 or HD 7870 will get you by very well for a few months or so.

just another suggestion. smile.gif

Hmm I don't think those card really have the power for smooth ultra 1080p gaming, no?

determine the going rate for a used 670 in your area and go from there. if it is reasonable, then sell it since you already know it will help you focus on your studies. it will only be a loss if you stil don't get good grades.biggrin.gif

this might motivate you . . .

that's the 7950 i bought for $330 last August.

edit: seriously, the prices of our gpus are starting to dive, so this might not be a very bad idea. depending on how the new gens perform . . . their prices will either hold or dive even more.

edit: read what happened. wish you the best on your studies.
